Jeffrey Zeth, LCSW

Psychotherapist
26 Court St, Brooklyn, NY
I work with people going through life transitions. Whether you've just started college, are facing job loss or retirement, or just had your first child, I would like to hear from you. More recently, I also work with survivors of trauma, using EMDR. As an experiential therapist, I use a combination of gestalt, cognitive, and EMDR techniques to get inside your experience, and then to look at ways of changing it. Clients who have gone through this process report a greater sense of purpose, a reduction in anxiety, and improved connection in their relationships.

Getting to know Jeffrey Zeth

I work with people going through life transitions. Whether you've just started college, are facing job loss or retirement, or just had your first child, I would like to hear from you. More recently, I also work with survivors of trauma, using EMDR. As an experiential therapist, I use a combination of gestalt, cognitive, and EMDR techniques to get inside your experience, and then to look at ways of changing it. Clients who have gone through this process report a greater sense of purpose, a reduction in anxiety, and improved connection in their relationships.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My personal style is warm and connected. I can also be gently challenging. Gestalt therapy teaches us to balance responsibility for our own experience with an appreciation of the influence of our environment. What this means, for me and the client I’m sitting with, is that I do not do anything in session myself. Everything that happens in the therapy room is collaborative, an event produced in the space between us. First sessions take place on a secure telehealth platform. Follow up sessions take place at an office location in downtown Brooklyn.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The heart of our work will be the gestalt experiment. This is work (or sometimes play) that can happen either in our session, or between sessions. Experiments come up organically in the course of our work together. I cannot predict when they will happen, but they are powerful tools intended to highlight or improve your experiences in the world. When a therapy client is motivated and willing to take risks, experiments tend to come up sooner rather than later in our work. Trauma survivors will find a recently-trained EMDR practitioner who is faithful to the model yet brings his whole self to the process. I provide the container for the process, but you set the pace at which we will proceed.
