“I've been working with Jenn for more than a year now and each time after our session I leave feeling refreshed. We have worked on everything from trauma therapy with EMDR to emotional and physical sobriety in our time together. What was once a weekly meeting is now a monthly check-in as far as appointments go as I've been able to feel more secure with who and where I am in my life, and I'm glad that Jenn's been a foundational part of this process!”

Getting to know Jennifer Jordan

Jenn Jordan is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in central Denver, Colorado. She works with adults of a wide range of ages. Many of Jenn's clients come in when they are struggling with anxiety, depression, disordered eating, life and role transitions, grief and loss, and recovering from trauma. Jenn has experience working with various mental health conditions as well as addictions. Jenn is trained in EMDR, a form of trauma therapy which uses bilateral movements to help the brain reprocess trauma and allow for more adaptive material to form. In session, Jenn views clients' issues as separate from themselves as a person, and helps clients see how their problems may be both serving them and hurting them, and in turn empowering them to make changes based on their values. She will come alongside her clients as they take steps toward a future that reflects who they are, what their gifts are, and what their purpose is. Jenn received her master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Denver Seminary. She gained clinical experience at Valiant Living and National Institute for Change, enabling her to conduct individual therapy sessions as well as group therapy sessions with expertise.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer a warm, compassionate, and safe approach, aiming to build trust with you and put you at ease. I highly value humor and use it as a way to connect and bring relief in the counseling process. I come from a trauma-informed lens and use various therapeutic frameworks, including narrative therapy, acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems (IFS), and attachment theory. I am EMDR trained and firmly believe in the brain’s ability to heal from trauma.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first session, we will spend time building rapport, talking about your current issues, and discussing your goals. Throughout the course of therapy, we may focus on one issue, resolve it, and then perhaps work on a different challenge. At times, I use meditation, visualization, or role-playing exercises with my clients to “rehearse” challenging situations. I often give homework based on what clients and I work on in session, because I believe that much of the change happens outside of the therapy room. Therapy is really about whatever my client needs, whether it's a one-time conversation, a brief foundation of comfort and encouragement during a life transition, or an ongoing experience to improve your mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

I started seeing Jenn in treatment from drugs and alcohol and I attribute the work we have done together as one of the reasons why I am still sober today. Jenn is kind, professional, personable, and is not afraid to challenge me and ask difficult questions. Our sessions together have allowed me to experience the personal growth that I have been looking for through therapy and I could not recommend her enough.
Jenn is an amazing therapist. Her deep understanding and perspective into the details of mental well-being and mindfulness make our sessions incredibly valuable. I always leave with new ideas on how to make myself a better individual and my best possible self. 10/10
As a healthcare provider myself, I can say without reservations that Jenn is an exceptional therapist. She listens and is able to provide you with the tools to get the most out of life. I’d recommend her to anyone.
