“I've had two sessions now and I could not be happier. She meets you where you're at but doesn't tell you what you want to hear. She clearly has a wealth of knowledge and understanding. It's clear that she doesn't stop learning. She recommends useful books. She respects your time and busy schedule. I waited a long time to find a therapist and I absolutely believe I've aligned with the best possible option. You feel she's invested in the most professional and positive way one could offer. Also, her offices are clear and quick with communications and worked seamlessly with my insurance. ”

“Not sure where to begin? I’ve been in therapy for about 12 years. I’ve seen several therapists, never one that was the right fit. Jen, first and foremost makes me comfortable in a way I’ve never truly felt, which I didn’t realize I was missing. She gets me like no one else had and we’re doing real work on me. I can’t express how truly blessed I am for encountering such a wonderful therapist. It was kind of an accidental find. I followed my previous therapist here, she left for a practice that didn’t accept insurance. Feeling down, I didn’t want to start my search over again. I told myself that I was done with it, didn’t want to tell my story over again. Jen had reached out to follow up and schedule a time to meet but I sent to voicemail, I just didn’t want to do it. About a week later I got another call but this time I had a really bad night. I answered and we set up a time to meet. Still hesitant, we met a week later and I’m so so so happy I did. It was all part of God’s plan for me. ”

Getting to know Jennifer Ritchie

You spend your days caring for others—but by the time the workday ends, you may have very little left for yourself or the people you love. Maybe you’re feeling anxious, burned out, emotionally exhausted, or finding that the pressure you manage so well at work is beginning to affect your relationships at home. I especially enjoy working with healthcare professionals and others in demanding helping roles who are accustomed to being the person everyone else relies on. Together, we can address anxiety, burnout, compassion fatigue, caregiving stress, relationship challenges, and the difficulty of balancing your own needs with the responsibilities you carry for others. I also work with adults and couples navigating major life transitions, communication difficulties, family stress, and periods of disconnection or uncertainty. Therapy can be a place to step out of the role of taking care of everyone else, better understand what you need, and make meaningful changes in your own life and relationships. I earned my Master of Social Work from Fordham University and provide virtual therapy to clients in New York and Florida.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, collaborative, and supportive, but I am also direct and goal-oriented. I believe therapy should give you space to feel heard and process what you’re experiencing while also helping you understand patterns, develop practical tools, and make changes that carry into your everyday life. I meet clients where they are without assuming that there is one “right” way to approach therapy. For clients who would like spirituality or Christian faith to be part of our work, I welcome faith-informed conversations and can thoughtfully integrate them into therapy. Faith integration is always optional and guided by your preferences and values. Whether you are navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship difficulties, caregiving responsibilities, or a significant life transition, my goal is to help you feel supported while also moving toward greater clarity, confidence, and balance.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins by understanding what is bringing you to therapy and what you would most like to change. Sessions typically start with a check-in so we can identify what feels most important to focus on that day. From there, we may explore emotional or relationship patterns, work through current stressors, practice new coping or communication skills, and identify concrete next steps to help you continue making progress between sessions. My approach is collaborative, structured, and practical. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), interpersonal and relationship-focused approaches, and other evidence-based strategies based on your individual needs. I don't believe therapy should simply be a place to talk about what's wrong. My goal is for you to leave our work with a deeper understanding of yourself, practical tools you can actually use, and greater confidence in your ability to navigate challenges long after therapy ends.

Jen is kind and empathetic. She creates a safe and welcoming space for me to share my thoughts and emotions without judgment. She listens actively and provides insightful feedback. She cares about her clients and encourages outreach, even outside of session if needed. She went out of her way multiple times to check up on me during a difficult time.
