Getting to know Jennifer San Nicolas
I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker with a heartfelt commitment to supporting individuals navigating grief, loss, emotional suffering, and major life transitions. My path into clinical work was shaped by early experiences in social work and hospice care, where I developed a deep capacity to be present with people during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
Grounded in my own transformative therapeutic journey, I bring warmth, empathy, and steadiness to my practice. I specialize in supporting teens and adults, particularly women and military families, through experiences of grief, identity shifts, relational changes, and emotional healing. While I have experience working with children in hospice settings, I intentionally focus my clinical work on clients aged 10 and older as I continue developing my skills and scope.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I work with clients navigating grief, identity shifts, spiritual questions, and life transitions that have left them feeling overwhelmed, unseen, or unsteady. In our early sessions, we’ll explore the experiences and, if you choose, the spiritual or faith aspects that have shaped you, and begin identifying the supports and strategies that help you feel more grounded. Most clients find that within the first few weeks, they begin to feel more understood, more connected to themselves, and more equipped to move through their healing process with clarity and confidence.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I approach therapy through an inclusive, affirming, and trauma-informed lens. It’s important to me to honor each client’s cultural identity, faith background, and lived experience with genuine respect and curiosity. My own multicultural family experience and Christian faith shape the way I show up in the room, and I welcome conversations around spirituality, culture, and identity while always centering your story and your values.
Above all, I strive to create a therapeutic space where you feel truly seen. I believe that within a trusting and supportive relationship, you can reconnect with your strength, tend to the places of hurt, and move toward meaningful change with confidence and clarity.
