Getting to know Jesse Bailey

My Story I grew up in a small town in the Midwest before moving to Colorado. I spent several years doing mission work in India, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Uganda, Malaysia, Taiwan and elsewhere before God reawakened my passion for counseling and called me to become a therapist. I really like pizza, people, books, DIY projects, traveling, and adventure (not necessarily in that order). Before starting a private practice, I worked in medical social work and community mental health, serving those with severe mental illness and addiction. I have my Master’s in Social Work, am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addictions Counselor, and am trained in EMDR. My Passion I am passionate about helping people process their stories so that they can move forward towards cultivating the life that God has created for them. I firmly believe that God invites us into deeper healing through which we can experience the abundant life Jesus talked about. I am truly honored to be able to work with the Holy Spirit to heal people’s hearts, and I count it a real blessing to be able to do this work. My Style I am conversational and relaxed in my approach. I focus on developing clients’ awareness of their feelings and underlying beliefs, so they can learn skills to cultivate emotional health and maturity. I help my clients develop greater curiosity and understanding of why they act and feel the way they do and learn to ask themselves hard questions to make connections between their past experiences and current thoughts, beliefs, and behavior. Then as they apply increased self-awareness and healthy coping skills to their life and relationships they see real changes and growth in their day-to-day experiences and interactions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me you will find me to be authentic, informal, and relatable. A therapy session with me often spans the spectrum from abstract discussions about worldview and core beliefs to immediately practical ways to actually engage and apply the skills and concepts in your real life. When sharing your life with me, you fill experience me as kind and compassionate in how I hold space for your pain and suffering, firm and guiding at times when helping you identify behaviors that may be hurting you and those you love, and collaborative in how we identify together a path towards change that you feel you can really own.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First, I listen. I want to hear about your life and to be able to place you as a person in your life context. Only after gaining a good understanding of who you are, where you come from, and what experiences have been most significant in shaping you can we together create a plan for the kind of person you would like to become. We will work collaboratively to understand why you might be struggling, develop a plan that is likely to help you grow and heal, and continue alternating between both of these layers of gaining self-understanding and facilitating real life-change throughout our work together until you find peace, growth, and health in your life and relationships.

My counselor has been outstanding. He listens with remarkable attentiveness, remembering even the smallest details from previous sessions and bringing them up in meaningful ways that show he truly cares about my growth and healing. Each session is thoughtfully tailored and purposeful, never rushed or generic. He consistently comes prepared with a wide range of practical tools, exercises, and creative strategies that are both effective and easy to apply in everyday life. His rare blend of deep compassion and clear structure creates a safe, supportive environment where I feel comfortable being vulnerable yet motivated to push myself forward. It’s evident he is deeply passionate about helping people not just cope, but fully heal and thrive emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I consistently leave feeling heard, understood, empowered, and hopeful. I am deeply grateful for the transformative impact he has had on my life and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking real growth.

Jesse is consistently professional and approachable on all topics. He doesn't let me distract the conversation from where it needs to go.
I have been a therapy client at Cultivate Life Counseling since 7/29/2021 and am seen by Jesse Bailey. My experience with Jesse has been nothing but positive. He has and is helping me through some of the tougher times in my life. He has been both instructive and understanding. He has great insight as to who I am and how to set back to the person I used to be. I would highly recomm him to anyone in need of his services.
Working with Jesse for the last several months has been extremely valuable to me. I can't say enough about how much he has helped me. Jesse is compassionate, consistent, passionate about his work and just flat out good at what he does. He has helped me work through many areas of my life where I was feeling stuck and not making any progress on my own. I am now experiencing so much more freedom to live the uninhibited life that I desire and so many of those breakthroughs that I needed are a direct result of my time working with Jesse. I couldn't recommend someone more highly.
