Getting to know Jessica Connell

Hello and Welcome! I'm Jessica A. Connell-Glynn, LCSW, CPC, CEC your supporter on the journey to healing and growth. As a psychotherapist and certified professional and executive coach, I create a warm, judgment-free space where you can share your thoughts and feelings openly. My goal is to help you feel comfortable and safe as we explore whats on your mind. I recognize that each person is unique, which is why I embrace a holistic approach tailored to your individual needs and goals. My person-centered, strengths-based methodology considers all facets of your life. I hold a Master's in Social Work from New York University, which has equipped me to support clients through diverse challenges. Together, we'll delve into the roots of your feelings and how they impact your behaviors. By understanding these connections, we can develop personalized tools to transform unhelpful thought patterns into more productive outcomes. You'll gain confidence in your decision-making and everyday life. My approach is results-driven, and you can expect meaningful progress! While my primary focus is on career-related stress, stemming from my background in investment banking, I also specialize in anxiety, perfectionism, depression, grief and bereavement, trauma, fertility support, LGBTQ+ issues, and relationship challenges. I'm trained in EMDR, a powerful technique that helps clients release effects of acute and developmental traumas from the body. I work with individuals and have a passion for couples therapy. Utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I help couples identify communication breakdowns that lead to recurring disagreements. Often, frustration and defensiveness cloud understanding. I guide couples in breaking down these barriers, fostering empathy, and recognizing each other's triggers rooted in personal histories. Together, we'll cultivate deeper connections and clearer communication. Let's embark on this transformative journey together!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m here to support you in achieving your goals and making meaningful next steps. My mission is to ensure you feel seen, heard, and understood every step of the way. I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is the cornerstone of our success together. With a collaborative, directive approach, I’ll work alongside you to help you identify what feeling like your best self looks like. We will dig deep to uncover what might be feeling like it is holding you back, but to also understand the great parts of you and your achievements that have gotten you where you are. We all have strengths and, what I like to call, beautiful limitations. By understanding them both and how they work together, we can then start to feel empowered to say "Yes" to the things that are right for us and "No" to what doesn't suit us.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Typically in the first session I like to get to know my clients and what they are experiencing that brought them to therapy. In tandem with addressing an area where a client needs support, I also ask questions to explore their history and where feelings about these experiences might be stemming from. I have been told I have a unique way of helping clients put words to their feelings, especially clients that are seeking therapy for the first time. We look deeply into understanding specific feelings and thought processes and how they are effecting our behaviors. From there, we begin to make changes with unique tools that are built together. A strong, trusting relationship is fostered, which can help make even discussing hard topics a little easier and safer. I like to have my clients leave session with at least one small empowering action item for next steps.

Jessica is amazing- I worked with her for several years and she helped me get through quite possibly the toughest time of my life. Would highly recommend her!!
Jessica is so insightful, smart, and caring. She made me feel comfortable from the start. She helped me significantly with panic attacks and generalized anxiety. I'm in a much better place because of the work we did together.
Jessica is a phenomenal therapist who provides supportive, engaging, and thoughtful care. Jessica listens empathetically then simultaneously validates your feelings and offers a new, helpful perspective. We worked together for nearly seven years. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
I look forward to my sessions with Jessica every week. She is empathetic and caring and I truly feel like she listens to what I am saying. She offers thoughtful advice and I could not recommend her enough! I feel like I have grown over the course of working together.
Ive been to couples therapists before that were very ineffective and left the session feeling worse. Jessica is a breath of fresh air! The way she was able to get my partner and I to understand each other better and connect was truly amazing. Highly recommend!
Jessica creates such a warm, accepting, and supportive environment for me to explore my feelings without shame. Our sessions help me feel understood and empowered.
Jessica is a pleasure! She worked hard to make my partner and I feel incredibly comfortable and understood, all while getting us to a better place in our relationship dynamically. We saw her for about 3 years and our improvement says it all.
I have worked with Ms. Connell for several years and I find her insight and depth of knowledge in analysis and coaching mental health to be most intuitive and remarkably aligns greatly with my exact needs. Her calming approach and her ability to encourage collaborative exploration in problem solving is such a blessing. Also, I have experienced (time and time again) her "laser-guided" targeting of the deeper and more critical issues to be addressed. I have met and interviewed quite a number of therapists and much of why I remain with Jessica is her unique talent and leadership in her craft. Her work ethics and performance is consistent and her compassion is genuine. She gives new meaning to the term "PERSONALIZED care".
Jessica is a thoughtful and engaged therapist. She easily balances being professional and relational. She is skilled in helping with a variety of issues. I would highly recommend her!
Working with Jessica has been a complete pleasure. Her thoughtfulness has always made our sessions a safe space to explore a range of topics. Through these, I have been able to identify and create awareness around my emotional, mental, and physical responses to stressors. This has been immensely helpful within both my professional and personal life — allowing me to set clearer boundaries, get to the root of what I’m looking for, and prioritize my needs.
With her mixture of insight and compassion, Jessica has helped me so much in learning how to manage my symptoms of depression and anxiety . She has helped me develop so many more tools and coping strategies that have made such a difference in improving my life. I’m very grateful for her help and am so glad I started working with her.
I have been seeing Jessica for a over a year, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. I have tried therapy in the past, but the approach is unique. She listens to what I am saying, and truly helps me understand the underlying causes behind a specific behavior or thought process from a logic based perspective. That has truly helped me to start seeing things from a less emotional perspective. She is an amazing listener, but is not afraid to challenge me when I need a push to either step out of my comfort zone, or to see things from a different perspective
My manager and I began working with Jessica to support us during a major planning and growth period for our business. Our goal was to have her help us stay on track with plans and priorities, but also to help enhance the communication flow and synergy between us during a time of pressure and stress. We have grown closer as a leadership team and have utilized her tools and techniques to produce better outcomes, including creating a short-term strategy for our organization and creating processes to keep our work flow on track. Jessica is an excellent listener and pragmatic coach with valuable insights!
