Jessica Myers, LMHC

Psychotherapist
NY
My approach to therapy is to provide a supportive environment where I can work collaboratively with a client on their goals. I believe in a person-centered approach and work side by side with clients on their growth, offering guidance while being mindful of their unique experiences and interests in life. My goal in therapy is to equip clients with the skills they need to cultivate resiliency and thrive-helping them find balance with symptoms while increasing inner strength, self-worth, and gratitude as they move positively toward their established treatment goals. I hold a Master's in Forensic Mental Health Counseling and a Master's in Forensic Psychology from the City University of New York, John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I have worked in the mental health field for five years, meeting clients in their homes and communities to coordinate support systems that help them feel stable as they move toward independence. My work has been part of an interdisciplinary team assisting individuals returning home from the hospital to reintegrate into the community by providing therapy and case management to both individuals and their families to promote long-term stability. I have experience working with a diverse range of diagnoses and symptoms in clients aged 18 and older. Outside of work, I love spending time cooking and trying new recipes. I've recently developed an interest in gardening and enjoy spending time outdoors at least once a day. I also enjoy hiking, meditation, and reading. I have two cats, a pet turtle, and a snake-all of which I never thought I would have, but here we are. I love getting to know other people and finding happiness in the small things in life.
