Jiayi Xu, MA

Jiayi Xu, MA

Psychotherapist
352 7th Ave, Ste 1604 Ofc G, New York, NY
When I moved to the United States at 15, I faced language barriers, cultural differences, and the loneliness of being far from home. Adjusting to an entirely new environment was not easy, but those experiences taught me resilience, empathy, and growth. This journey also gave me a deep understanding of the challenges of cross-cultural life and the longing to feel truly seen and supported. As a counselor, I hope to bring this understanding into my work. Whether you are an international student, an immigrant, or someone navigating a major life transition, I will walk alongside you—helping you uncover your strengths and move toward a life that feels authentic, balanced, and empowering. My approach is integrative, drawing from psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and person-centered work. I believe that every individual has an inherent capacity for growth, and therapy is a process of uncovering deeper patterns, fostering self-understanding, and discovering new ways of coping. I also work with a strong commitment to cultural sensitivity, paying close attention to how one’s cultural background and identity shape their experiences and choices. No matter where you come from, I strive to create a space of openness, respect, and empathy as we work together.
