Psychotherapist
WA
Hello! I’m Sturdy (they/them), a humanistic therapist who supports people navigating identity exploration, trauma recovery, grief, neurodivergence, spiritual exploration, and major life transitions. My work is shaped by my own healing journey, contemplative practice, and belief that therapy should feel authentic, relational, and deeply human. I especially resonate with clients who feel stuck in the “messy middle” of change or exhausted by overly clinical approaches to healing. My approach is client-centered, mindfulness-based, and grounded in compassion, curiosity, humor, and genuine connection. I work with adults, young adults, and younger clients experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, identity shifts, and existential questioning. I also enjoy incorporating creativity, mindfulness, and playfulness into therapy, especially when helping clients reconnect with themselves in gentler and more meaningful ways. My practice is trauma-informed, intersectional, and affirming of queer, trans, neurodivergent, and spiritually diverse experiences. I approach therapy with openness and humility, recognizing how identity, community, and systems shape our emotional lives and sense of belonging. I believe healing is not about fixing who you are, but building a more compassionate relationship with yourself. Therapy with me is a space where seriousness and joy, grief and humor, uncertainty and growth are all welcome. My hope is that you leave our work feeling more grounded, more connected to yourself, and more able to move through life with authenticity and belonging. Together, we’ll move at your pace, creating space for all parts of your experience while building greater self-trust, authenticity, resilience, and connection.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy style is warm, collaborative, relational, and grounded in authenticity. I strive to create a space where you can show up fully as yourself without pressure to perform, explain, or have everything figured out. I believe healing happens through connection, curiosity, and compassion rather than judgment or “fixing.” My approach is humanistic, trauma-informed, and mindfulness-based, with influences from contemplative practice, creativity, and relational therapy. I often integrate humor, playfulness, honest reflection, and mindfulness into sessions while still making space for grief, uncertainty, and deeper emotional work. I especially enjoy working with clients navigating identity exploration, trauma recovery, existential questioning, neurodivergence, grief, spiritual exploration, and major life transitions. My practice is affirming of queer, trans, neurodivergent, and spiritually diverse experiences, and I approach therapy with an awareness of how systems, relationships, and lived experiences shape our emotional worlds. You can expect therapy with me to feel collaborative and flexible rather than rigid or overly clinical. Together, we’ll move at your pace, exploring what healing, self-understanding, and authenticity look like for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session with me is conversational, collaborative, and shaped around your needs rather than a rigid structure. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can bring your full self, whether that means talking through something painful, sitting with uncertainty, reflecting deeply, laughing, or simply slowing down enough to notice what’s happening internally. In our early sessions, we’ll spend time getting to know your story, your relationships, the challenges bringing you to therapy, and what you hope to gain from the process. I’ll also help us identify patterns, emotional themes, coping strategies, and the ways past experiences may still be impacting you in the present. Together, we’ll move at a pace that feels safe and sustainable. My approach is humanistic, trauma-informed, and mindfulness-based, with influences from relational therapy, contemplative practice, creativity, and play. Sessions may include reflection, emotional processing, mindfulness exercises, exploring identity and meaning, or building tools for grounding and self-understanding. I integrate humor and curiosity into the work when appropriate while still honoring the depth and seriousness of your experiences. Rather than positioning myself as someone who “fixes” you, I see therapy as a collaborative relationship where we explore your inner world together with compassion, honesty, and care.
