“I can confidently say that John is the first therapist I have been able to see consistently and not doubt the process. I've tried therapy half a dozen times before and always threw in the towel before the 3rd session. I have been able to extract meaning from the dialogue we've shared in each session. I come out of each session with a renewed perspective on antiquated ideologies I have built up in my head from past trauma in my childhood to every day issues that I'm still working with. John has seamlessly adapted to my ebb and flow of conversation and understand how to read me when I'm on the verge of unpacking a new thorn in my side. I highly recommend John to anyone in search of a new therapist. Thank you.”

Getting to know John Driessnack

Greetings, my name is John Luke. I am a clinical social worker with a Master’s in Mental Health Social Work from Bryn Mawr College. I specialize in helping people effectively manage anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns using cognitive behavioral techniques. I have worked with a range of populations and also have experience with couples counseling and addiction treatment. My biggest strength as a therapist is my ability to productively collaborate with clients in a way that satisfies emotional, psychological, and practical needs. My treatment method depends on the person, their problem, and their circumstances. However, I often use cognitive behavioral and psychoanalytic approaches to therapy. Primarily, I work with people to develop insight into the source of their problems, identify how their core beliefs about the world might be hindering their progress, and focus on their natural strengths to overcome those barriers with practical skills that generate sustainable change. Clients can expect to take away practical, solution-focused, and client-centered skills and insights from sessions. Some of the problems I am particularly keen on solving with my clients include issues with self-image and confidence; dating and relationships; boundary-setting and assertive communication; as well as general anxiety management and learning to identify and productively resolve emotional unrest. If you feel any of this could be helpful, please do not hesitate to reach out!
