“I have been going to therapy with Jonathan once a week for almost a year. As someone who had contemplated going to therapy for years prior and dreaded going to the first appointment, he made me feel welcome from the start and has been patient and encouraging with me ever since. One paragraph could not possibly do the impact Jonathan has made on my life justice. From addressing my recovery through anorexia & bulimia to general anxiety and depression, I truly feel that I would be no where near the happiness that I feel today without him. I've become far more cognizant of my feelings in situations and have a deeper understanding of who I am and how I approach problems. I can say with no doubt that implementing the many strategies and thought processes we've discussed in therapy have helped me every day. I am so excited to see how far I've come in the last year and what the future holds! Last but not least, Jonathan is always professional and on time. He has been very accommodating in rescheduling appointments when I had conflicts and his respect for my time is something I am also very grateful for. ”

Getting to know Jonathan Egan

Currently providing teletherapy through FaceTime, Zoom, or Skype. I believe that under the right conditions, each individual has the capacity to grow and change. Therapy is a unique partnership shared between the therapist and client. In my experience as a therapist, the qualities of the therapeutic process that have been most helpful in supporting clients with growth and change have been empathy, problem-solving, and my ability to create supportive and nurturing therapeutic experiences for each person. Clients' feelings, needs, and desires are what I attune myself to, while using my own self-knowledge, training, and intuition. My work focuses on understanding my client's perspective for the purpose of collaborating in developing an individualized therapeutic plan that will help unlock their potential and get them to where they want to be. I believe in the deep importance of understanding what one communicates through their behaviors and the significance of understanding their origin and meaning. Above all else, I am caring, goal- and insight-oriented, as well as deeply focused and interested in what my clients are trying to achieve. I embrace working with diverse populations and have experience working with life transitions, school and career stressors, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, OCD, ADHD, and coping with chronic medical conditions. I work with adolescents, teens, and adults. By combining mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as other evidence-based models, I strive to create a warm and productive therapeutic environment. This is instrumental in finding solutions and transforming problematic patterns for my clients. Please reach out to me for a free phone or email consultation if you think I can be of help. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, and a Bachelor's degree from Emory University.

Going to therapy with Jonathan Egan, for more than a year, can’t quite explain how much he has able to help me navigate to a lot situations related with my mental health, always professional on time and looking up for his patients, has prove me that their is professionals out there trying their best and doing their best for us to keep us healthy in every sense possible. Very approachable and always trying to understand why are you there and how you can make things better for yourself, my experience with therapy wasn’t the best, since I start seeing Jonathan things clearly have gone much better for me.

Most talk therapists have a "look at yourself in the mirror" approach to interacting with patients. The thing that I personally loved about Max (Jonathan Egan) is that he asked difficult questions to help me find the answers within myself sooner. He has mindfulness, is calm, and uses a very direct approach of questions versus analysis, rather than just question after question and scribbling in a notebook while you squirm in your chair. I was so impressed with Max's approach that I asked for even more sessions than anticipated, because he allows me to face difficult situations with more hope and positivity...more self reflection and clarity. Thank you Max for being different!

Jonathan is an extremely compassionate and supportive therapist. He has helped me to feel better about myself and not let my thoughts control me.
Jonathan (Max) is a highly empathetic social worker with strong intuition. After being put in a situation where I felt helpless, he made me feel like someone truly cared and was there to guide me through the process.
