Joni Shinn, LMSW

Psychotherapist
21630 W McNichols Rd, Wayne, MI
Hi there. I am a fully licensed clinician with a Master's in Social Work from Detroit's own Wayne State University. I commend your effort and resolve to seek therapy, as I know what it takes to reach out. I am glad to tackle any issue with you, using a variety of strategies and modalities including but not limited to psychoeducation, empowerment, CBT, somatic and mindfulness techniques, and trauma-focused therapy to serve adolescents and adults age 13+ in resolving conflicts in relationships or identity, adjusting to life transitions, or coping with loss. I work both in-office and via telehealth. I generally begin therapy by establishing a framework through psychoeducation, then applying a customized approach to treat anxiety, depression, gender/sexual identity, men's issues, couples and family relationships, grief and loss, eating disorders, adjustment and transitions, cultural issues, addiction and substance use, and chronic health conditions, among others. Therapy is like any other relationship, where compatibility is key!
