Getting to know Jordan Spinelli

Hi, I'm Jordan! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in New York City specializing in treating teens, young adults, and adults who struggle with their relationships with food and their bodies. I operate from a trauma-informed, social justice, and Health at Every Size (HAES)® lens. I feel very strongly that part of the work in therapy is not about “fixing,” but rather about removing what stands in the way of you accessing your best self, which most often includes challenging and exploring the systemic issues that impact individuals. In order to do this work with you, I will forever be learning and growing to acknowledge my own privileges and ways I am part of the system. I earned my Master's in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University and my Bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado. I know firsthand that it takes immense bravery and vulnerability to start the journey toward healing in therapy. I want to help you develop a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship where you can find your own recovery and empowerment. It is a true honor to walk alongside clients and see them slowly returning to their own lives. I so look forward to going on that journey with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is genuine, relational and compassionate. I believe that laughter and joy is imperative in a therapeutic relationship. I will never pretend to be perfect or think that I am the expert in you.
