Getting to know Joseph Markowicz
Hi, my name is Joe Markowicz, and I have been in practice for over 30 years. My offices are located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and in southern Westchester. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Columbia University and completed an externship in Couples and Family Therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. I am an Ackerman Institute-trained couples and family therapist specializing in couples therapy, including infidelity and sexual issues. I also have expertise in solution-focused treatment, which hones in on people's strengths to help them overcome their challenges. Most people already have the tools to deal with their problems and just need help organizing their ability to do so. Additionally, I am trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy.
I specialize in relationship issues and work with all types of couples, individuals, and families. I have trained other therapists in the family systems approach and am confident I can help you. I use a strengths-based approach, focusing on each person's unique ability to overcome their problems with their own positive and natural resources.
