Getting to know Joyce Klestzick

Walking into a therapist's office for the first time is no easy task. It takes courage and humility to embark on an endeavor of self-knowledge. I am respectful of the willingness to attempt this journey, and my first responsibility is to welcome you into this process with openness and attunement to how you may feel. There is no right or wrong reason to seek out psychotherapy; it is personal and specific to each individual or couple. The therapy process also unfolds differently for different people, and it is my job to offer you an experience that progresses at a pace and trajectory that meets your needs. Sometimes our focus may be on feelings, sometimes on behaviors, sometimes on the past, sometimes on the present, sometimes on others, sometimes on yourself-but always with a mind to help you find comfort and clarity in your relationships with others and with yourself. I have been a psychotherapist for over 25 years, and I bring the benefit of these years and the many people I have worked with to offer help with many of the life experiences one encounters as they grow, work, and thrive. I have also been particularly sought out for my work with couples, parenting issues, and living with chronic illness. I hold a Master's in Clinical Social Work from City University of New York, Hunter College, and a Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy from the Training Institute for Mental Health. I look forward to meeting you.
