Getting to know Julie Manheimer

I am a New York State–licensed psychotherapist in private practice with a Master’s in Psychotherapy from Antioch University. I see patients on Zoom and also offer walk-and-talk therapy. In-office sessions may be available in the near future. Once you book your appointment, we can discuss what works best for you. What sets me apart from other therapists is my strong intuition and empathy. I believe the most powerful factor in therapy is that the client feels deeply known and accepted. By providing a safe space, I can help you know yourself better and learn how to function optimally in this world. My specialties include, but are not limited to, ADHD/ADD, anxiety, fertility, relationship difficulties, and self-esteem issues. If you are looking for a genuine therapist who is non-judgmental and patient, while also being interactive and realistic, I would be honored to work with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I employ various therapy approaches, as each individual is unique. Each session is approximately 45-50 minutes. I am flexible in terms of weekly, bi-weekly or as needed therapy. However, in the beginning, I feel it is best to have weekly sessions to build a relationship and to get to know you and your needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

While I primarily utilize talk therapy, I also incorporate breathing and visualization exercises, as well as EFT (tapping). If I feel it is necessary for you to consult with a psychiatrist for medication evaluation, I will let you know. Therapy is a process of unfolding and opening, and so it is continuously changing, as life is.

I needed help with my marriage and she was able to ask the right questions, as well as help me understand my role in a compassionate way. I liked her so much I ended up continuing my therapy and she really has helped me optimize my life in so many ways. I feel so much more supported now, and my marriage is infinitely better!
I recommend this therapist. She is patient, understanding, and helped me with my anxiety. She gave me tools to manage my stress, and helped me understand where it was coming from. I was only looking for short-term therapy, and she was able to help me in a short amount of time.
I highly recommend her. I can tell she cares about me, which seems like a simple thing, but I have had other therapists who were very cold. She also is interactive, and helps me process my thoughts and feelings. She is the best.
Very happy with my therapy. Super super helpful!
I highly recommend Julie for therapy. My experience with her has been extremely positive, as she has helped me with my anxiety and relationship problems. I have been seeing her for weekly therapy for over two years now, and within a couple of months of the therapy, things in my life started improving. I met someone, who I'm now engaged to, and I know this was because I finally felt like I was able to open up to someone. Basically, I started liking myself. Thank you Julie.
Believe me when I say that I am in awe of Julie's authenticity and competence. I have seen my share of therapists in NYC and none even compare to her! What I really appreciate is her ability to make me feel understood, even with thoughts and feelings I have never shared before. The cherry on top is that she even makes me laugh. I cannot recommend her more.
Julie has an incredible ability to make me feel heard. I am so thankful I found her. Julie has helped me learn so much more about myself. That has allowed me to grow and really be the best version of me possible.
Julie has helped me with my understanding of my new ADHD diagnosis , including my symptoms and how to manage them. She is super intelligent, understanding and compassionate. I highly recommend her!!!
Julie helps me organize my thoughts and feelings, helps with talking through problems, and as a result, helps me change my unhealthy behavior patterns.
Julie is amazing!!! I came to Julie for help with a specific issue I was dealing with hoping she could work through it with me. What I found was that we ended up exploring so much more about who I was as a person. She really helped open up new avenues of how I relate to myself and the world around me. I’m so thankful that our paths crossed, I would highly recommend her to all my friends and family.
I have had several therapists in my lifetime, and I have to say that I appreciate my sessions with Julie the most. She is not only patient and kind, but she is wise and intelligent - and always provides helpful insight. Her empathy and intuition are always appreciated and her skill is unmatched. I confidently give her the highest recommendation.
As a 45 year old woman who has required therapeutic intervention numerous times throughout my adulthood, I felt it important to share my experience with Julie Manheimer. Her patience, empathy and understanding are far superior to any therapist I have had experience with. The growth and progress I have made under her care have helped me tremendously in finding the peace and happiness I have been seeking. I have and will continue to recommend Julie to anyone who is looking for a wonderful therapist. :)
Julie conveys a sense of trustworthiness and the willingness to listen. She is confident in her communications and is very attentive in the progress of our sessions. She definitely adapts her treatments to the individual and manages all issues I present. She is compassionate, open minded and patient. Julie is extremely approachable, and I immediately felt comfortable to speak freely. Professional and ethical, I highly recommend Julie.
I always wanted to go to therapy but I had put off getting help for years. I went through several therapists and I wasn’t sure if therapy was right for me, but then I met Julie Manheimer and it was one of the best decisions I have made. Julie Manheimer was a wonderful listener, made me feel very comfortable, and understood what I was trying to say. I highly recommend her and her counseling for anyone struggling through life’s difficult stages. She really cares and gave me the confidence and tools I needed to deal with the many challenges that come my way ---Ashley, NYC
