Getting to know Julyet Kudo-Smith

I've been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado since 2004. My philosophy in counseling is mainly humanistic and client-centered, with my approach utilizing techniques from an eclectic array of differing therapies. I liken it to having a toolbox with several different tools in it; which tool I choose to use in any particular situation will depend on the unique circumstances of that situation, that client, and their personal needs and goals. Undergirding and supporting all of this is the foundation of trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship between my client and me. My eclectic approach (my collection of tools, if you will) includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), object relations, relational therapy, reality therapy, and attachment theory. I believe that each person has an inborn ability and desire to heal and grow and that the support of an accepting, nonjudgemental therapeutic relationship can foster and facilitate that ability and desire to manifest itself naturally as clients learn how to remove and overcome obstacles in their path.
