I believe in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship-as a site for activation, reflection, examination, change, and corrective emotional experiences. So often, the very things that have helped protect us throughout our lives also create barriers and challenges. Therapy offers us a space to slow down and explore these defenses and patterns, and to develop healthier alternatives. We will work collaboratively to reach mutual understanding, honest emotional expression, and to acknowledge and nourish your true self, in all of its complexity-which will hopefully lead to a more authentic, vibrant, fulfilling life. Therapy can offer a path through the stress and trauma of everyday life and increase our resilience. My clients say that therapy has re-introduced them to themselves, allowed them to understand and accept themselves, helped them identify and change problematic patterns, given them new coping tools, helped them heal, and helped them find their voice. I work with a wide variety of clients and issues, with a focus on depression and mood issues, anxiety, identity, trauma, isolation, addiction, personality disorders, psychosis, loss and bereavement, and relationship and intimacy issues. I work with individuals, couples, and families; I also facilitate therapeutic groups. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work and a Bachelor's degree from Sarah Lawrence College.

What should a new client know about working with you?

-I work with individuals, couples, and families -I see adults and adolescents (12-17yo) -Currently offering telehealth/video or phone sessions -Able to see patients multiple times per week if desired/appropriate -I sometimes incorporate mindfulness exercises in sessions when useful -We will often 'pause' or 'zoom in' on a moment, feeling, interaction, memory, dream, etc.--to enrich your awareness of your complex emotional world, build your tolerance for difficult emotions, and to provide an opportunity to practice mindfulness as we relate to others.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We'll start by talking about what brought you to therapy, and what your goals for therapy are, and I will check in regularly about how the process is going for you--how it feels in the moment, how we might be able to adjust our approach, and how your goals evolve from session to session. I have found that longterm therapy has been the most effective and enduringly impactful for patients. This often means that there are moments when therapy is frustrating, or boring, or feels unproductive--these are important moments for us to reflect and process together this "stuck" feeling and how to move forward--and use it as a model for sitting with difficult emotions, confronting ruptures in relationships, and acting in a way that resonates with your true self (feelings, desires, fears, wishes, etc.).
