Getting to know Dr. Justin Giallorenzo

Dr. Justin Giallorenzo is a licensed clinical psychologist at Bryant West Psychology, PLLC, New York, NY. He offers individual psychotherapy to adults of all ages, sexual orientations, and gender identities/expressions, both online and in person, in English and Spanish. Dr. Giallorenzo has experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, sexual identity exploration, self-defeating behaviors (e.g., procrastination), and academic/professional difficulties. As a musician and avid art aficionado, he also enjoys working with artists to support creativity, overcome blocks, and enhance self-expression. Dr. Giallorenzo strives to create a collaborative, curious, and culturally humble therapeutic space that promotes and invites the transition from talking about emotions to fully feeling them. He helps strengthen understanding of thoughts and behavior patterns, particularly in relationships. His approach integrates techniques from relational psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral traditions to support patient growth and help them reach their goals. Dr. Giallorenzo earned his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Palo Alto University. He is a member of the American Psychological Association.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have a doctorate in clinical psychology from Palo Alto University, and I have trained in numerous mental health settings, including outpatient clinics at major university hospitals, homeless shelters, and community settings, as well as inpatient psychiatric settings. Over the past five years, I have worked as a bilingual provider in English and Spanish. I completed my predoctoral internship at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn and my postdoctoral training at New York Presbyterian-Columbia’s adult outpatient clinic in Manhattan. Please reach out if you would be interested in working together. I would be delighted to hear from you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My training and experience informs me that accessing the depths of your emotional experience can be transformative, expanding both your range of inner experience and your interpersonal expressiveness – all to great effect. Further, I hold that by helping you to identify what truly matters to you, and assisting you to act in ways that align with your values, you can live a more satisfying and meaningful life. You more than likely already possess substantial strengths and inner resources needed to overcome many of life’s challenges. Together, we can identify those strengths and resources, to discover ways to channel them into the areas where you are experiencing greater difficulties. Perhaps key to the work I do is to establish and maintain a connection between us that is informative, growth-oriented and healing.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Ongoing session: $200-350 for 50 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

Bryant West Psychology works with most insurance plans (whether in-network or out-of-network) to make the financials easy, hassle-free, and paper-work-free for you. We can bill your insurance for you, and you can pay us any deductibles and co-pays by credit card or through Zelle, as well as the old-fashioned ways, such as check or cash. In-Network: Our clinicians are providers in the following networks: Aetna and its affiliated insurances (Allied Benefit Systems - Aetna, Christian Brothers Services - Aetna, Health Scope - Aetna, Meritain, Nippon, Trustmark ) and student health insurance at NYU, Columbia, New School, and Fordham. Your insurance company sets our fees, co-pays, and deductibles, making our services more affordable when you're in-network. We will discuss this with you. Out-of-Network: We bill all insurance companies, such as United Health Care, Oxford, Cigna, Blue Cross/Shield, and Beacon (to name a few). Depending on your plan, your insurance may pay up to 80% of our fee (and sometimes more). We will do our best to work with you to make payment arrangements that won't break the bank—that is, your bank.
