What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients working with me can expect a warm, collaborative, and culturally affirming space where all parts of their identity are welcomed and respected. I approach therapy with deep respect for the complexities of lived experience, especially for those navigating the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, relationship structure, and systemic oppression. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, communication issues, and relationship challenges. My therapeutic approach integrates relational, trauma-informed, and liberatory frameworks. I also incorporate somatic practices that support healing in both the mind and body—particularly for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color and LGBTQIA+ clients. My work draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the Gottman Method, and is guided by an ongoing commitment to transformative justice and the decolonization of mental health care. In our work together, I will help you understand the patterns that are keeping you stuck and support you in developing practical tools to shift your thoughts, behaviors, and emotional responses. You’ll gain concrete skills to improve communication, deepen connection, and relate to yourself and others in more intentional, empowered, and fulfilling ways.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together typically begins with a 45-minute initial assessment session. During this time, I’ll learn more about what’s bringing you to therapy, how the issue started, how you are currently experiencing it in your day-to-day life, what steps you’ve already taken to address it, and what your goals are for our work together. We’ll also explore what you’re needing clinically and whether the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit for both of us. If we decide to move forward, our work will be collaborative. I will walk with you through this difficult time in a supportive and affirming space. We will recognize your pain and explore the numerous possibilities for healing. You have the inner wisdom on what you need to best navigate these struggles, and together, we will uncover it. I’m here to support you in making meaningful, lasting changes in your relationship with yourself and others
