Hello, I'm Kaitlin. We all have our own negative stories that we tell about ourselves. You come to counseling to learn how to experience joy and happiness. You don't come to counseling to learn about how to be depressed, anxious, or how to talk about yourself in a negative way. I value the therapeutic relationship, and together we will build a safe place, as I believe this is one of the key components in becoming the best version of yourself. In our time together, my goal and my hope is to assist you in re-authoring your story and learn how to sit in happiness versus the negative messages you tell yourself. I use an eclectic approach, meaning we all have different experiences and different needs as humans. I specialize in Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my work as a counselor. This theory is rooted in the belief that people are not defined by the problems they may be struggling with. The person is not the problem; the problem is the problem. I hold a Master's degree (MA) and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, addiction, LGBTQIA+ support, life transitions, multicultural/diversity issues, intimate/romantic relationships, spirituality, stress, and suicidal ideation and/or self-harming. Deciding to take the first step to look for a counselor is a huge accomplishment and I am already proud of you for taking a step forward in what can be an overwhelming process. I look forward to meeting you and to our time together in this professional relationship.
