Hello, I'm Katie. I believe our time together is a joint journey where understanding you and what has helped you through challenging times forms the foundation of our work. I utilize theoretical approaches such as Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, and self-compassion to create a personalized road map to help you make shifts and recognize your strengths and abilities. We all experience pain that we cannot avoid, and my goal is to help you manage this suffering effectively. I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work in 2009 while working as a Child/Adult Protection Worker. I spent 11 years in this role before transitioning to support families and individuals in a long-term care community, primarily in skilled nursing. Currently, I am honored to work as a Social Worker and Counselor in an oncology center, where I support families and individuals navigating life with cancer. This diverse background has deepened my compassion and ability to meet individuals where they are. My passion lies in working with individuals who want to explore new approaches to managing anxiety, depression, trauma, and life changes. I am curious about those conversations you may have felt unsure about and long to share with someone. I am very comfortable sitting with you in your grief and having conversations that you may not have known how to have with others. My approach is strongly based on Attachment Theory, and I utilize the Polyvagal Theory to help you understand how your current approach to life may have served a purpose, one that you may now be ready to shed, and to learn new ways to navigate life's complexities. If you are ready to explore these aspects of your life and work towards meaningful change, I am here to support you every step of the way. Let's embark on this journey together.
