Keanu Jackson, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
Keanu M. Jackson, LCSW (he/him) is a queer, Black, kink-affirming therapist, facilitator, and the founder of Homebody Psychotherapy, a private practice rooted in care, connection, and the radical belief that we all deserve to come home to ourselves. With a strong grounding in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and decolonial approaches, Keanu holds space for those navigating the layered complexities of identity, intimacy, and healing in a world that often demands our disconnection. Keanu specializes in supporting queer and trans people of color, survivors, and folks who are unlearning shame tied to sex, power, and vulnerability. His therapeutic work is informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), relational-cultural therapy, and somatic healing practices. Sessions with Keanu are an invitation to explore the parts of ourselves we've been taught to hide—grief, desire, rage, pleasure, and tenderness—without judgment. Clients come to therapy with Keanu seeking not only to cope, but to transform—to deepen self-trust, cultivate healthier relationships, and reclaim a sense of inner safety. Through Homebody Psychotherapy, Keanu offers weekly therapy, group spaces, and supervision for LMSWs. He also leads workshops and trainings on sex positivity, racial equity, kink, emotional regulation, and collective healing for organizations and community spaces. His practice includes a tiered anti-oppressive rate structure to increase access to care, and his work is animated by the belief that rest, joy, and self-return are forms of resistance. Whether you're navigating trauma, reimagining your relationship to intimacy, or simply wanting to feel more rooted in your body and your story, Keanu brings presence, accountability, and warmth. Homebody Psychotherapy isn’t just a place to process—it’s a space to come back to yourself.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means entering a space where all of you is welcome—your contradictions, your quiet longings, your messy questions, your rage, your grief, your desire, and your joy. I don’t expect you to show up polished or to have everything figured out. Therapy with me isn’t about performance—it’s about truth-telling, even when the truth feels hard to say. I believe healing happens in relationship, so I approach our work together as a co-created process rooted in trust, consent, and care. I work relationally and through a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive lens. That means I pay close attention to the context you’re living in—your identities, your community, the systems that impact your sense of safety and worth—and how these layers show up in your body, your relationships, and your internal world. My style is warm, honest, and grounded. I will meet you with deep respect and curiosity, but I will also gently challenge patterns that no longer serve you. I’m particularly attuned to the experiences of queer and trans people of color, survivors, and those navigating shame or confusion around sex, intimacy, and emotional vulnerability. I’m kink-affirming, pleasure-positive, and believe deeply in the healing power of naming what has gone unnamed. I incorporate elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic work, and cultural relational frameworks to support you in reconnecting with the parts of yourself that have been silenced, exiled, or fragmented. New clients should know that therapy with me can be both tender and transformative. We may laugh, cry, sit in silence, or move through discomfort together—but everything we do will be guided by your pace, your needs, and your sovereignty. If you're seeking a space to feel seen without shrinking, to grieve without being rushed, and to grow without abandoning yourself—this work might be for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process centers on building a relationship that honors your autonomy, your story, and your natural rhythm. In our early sessions, we take time to get to know one another—there’s no rush to dive into the deepest parts of your life before trust is established. I start by listening closely to what brings you in, what you're carrying, and what you hope might be different. From there, we collaboratively explore your goals, but I emphasize that healing isn't linear, and we don’t need to have a rigid agenda. A core part of my approach is resisting urgency. So many of us have been conditioned to “push through,” to produce, to fix ourselves quickly. In our work together, we do the opposite. We slow down. We listen to what your body, your nervous system, and your inner parts are trying to tell us. I encourage moving at a pace that makes sense for you—one that feels both spacious and supportive. When discomfort or emotion arises, we tend to it with care rather than trying to bypass it. My sessions are relational and dynamic, drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic awareness, and anti-oppressive, trauma-informed practices. I check in often about what’s working and what isn’t, and I invite transparency and collaboration at every stage. You don’t need to show up a certain way to “do therapy right”—you just need to show up as you are. Together, we’ll shape a process that prioritizes safety, connection, and your long-term self-trust over quick fixes or surface-level solutions.
