Dr. Kelly Dickinson, PhD

Psychologist
WA
Hi there, I'm Kelly! Thank you for your interest in learning more about me and my practice. My name is Dr. Kelly Dickinson (she/her), and I am a licensed clinical psychologist (WA License PY3728) with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University. I have over 20 years of experience providing trauma-informed and compassionate therapy to members of the Military, Veterans, and their family members. My approach I believe that you already have the inner wisdom to know what you value and want in your life. In therapy, I will help you compassionately examine and understand patterns you have developed that no longer serve you. We can work together to curate a path forward in the direction of your personal values, strengths, and dreams. My experience includes working with individuals who have experienced traumatic life events, significant and chronic stressors, complicated losses and bereavement, and adversity directed at oneself or their loved ones. As such, I offer care to address issues of anxiety, depression, moral injury, betrayal, and relationship challenges. My background in public service has provided me with substantial training and skills in a wide range of therapy models, including Evidence-Based Therapy approaches. I also have experience providing couples counseling, applying the principles and methods of Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT). My focus I have specialty experience and training in providing care to those impacted by trauma or prolonged stress. A central focus of my work has been with individuals who have experienced sexual trauma, domestic violence, combat exposure, first responder stress, and/or betrayal trauma. My communication style My communication is compassionate and validating while being direct. Initially, I will listen more than I speak, as I want to understand your history and experience from your perspective before offering my own conceptualization.
