Getting to know Kelly Dyer

Kelly is a graduate of Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service. Before becoming a social worker, she spent a decade working in marketing and advertising, including several years living and working in the UK. Her path to clinical practice has included counseling and crisis response work in New York City public schools, as well as policy and advocacy work with the Center for Reproductive Rights. Her experience across different settings has helped shape her grounded, practical approach to therapy and an appreciation for the many pressures people navigate across work, relationships, family, health, and everyday life. Kelly’s style is warm, down-to-earth, affirming, and supportive. She takes a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach, creating space for clients to feel genuinely seen and heard while also working toward meaningful goals and change. Her background in reproductive counseling, policy, and reproductive justice informs a socially conscious approach to therapy, with an understanding that our well-being is shaped not only by our individual experiences, but also by the systems and circumstances that surround us. Kelly has specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and works under the mentorship of behavioral sleep medicine expert Dr. Julie Kolzet. She helps clients better understand the patterns that may be contributing to ongoing sleep difficulties and uses practical, evidence-based strategies to support healthier, more sustainable sleep. As an associate in Dr. Kolzet’s New York City-based psychology practice, Kelly works with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, stress, relationships, career and family changes, and life transitions. She is particularly interested in helping people care for their mental health while living in a world that can feel increasingly demanding, distracting, and uncertain, and in finding ways to stay informed and engaged without becoming overwhelmed.
