Getting to know Kelly Flynn

I focus on a multitude of areas such as parenting skills, coping with adolescents, individuals adapting to challenging life transitions, couples grappling with communication and intimacy issues, and everything in between. Treatment is designed to meet your unique needs. I provide a safe, collaborative environment to help you acquire self-efficacy, communication skills, and tools to reach your goals. Using a family systems perspective, I identify and explore roles, life stage transitions, and destructive family patterns that may be holding you back. Research shows that couples therapy and family therapy are among the most effective treatments for a wide range of problems, even for issues like depression that seem to be localized within a single individual. The effectiveness of these approaches stems from their focus on changing aspects of family and couple relationships that trigger or reinforce the problems brought to therapy. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hofstra University, which informs my comprehensive and compassionate approach to therapy.

Dr. Flynn was very helpful the two times I actually saw her. I had difficulty scheduling appointments with her. For my first appointment the time and date were changed on me. When I rescheduled, I was waiting in the waiting room for 40 minutes past my scheduled time. It was on a Saturday, so I had the extra time and wasn't all that irritated with waiting. My second appointment only started about 10-15 minutes past the scheduled time. When I confirmed my third appointment, Dr. Flynn told me she could only see me an hour earlier. This was confusing to me, because I verbally confirmed our next meeting time during the session prior. I was told this information during the work day when I had already made arrangements at work to alter my schedule. We rescheduled for the following evening where I again, made arrangements at work to alter my schedule. When I showed up to the appointment I was left waiting for 30 minutes. At this point, despite having great sessions when we were actually able to meet, I was fed up with trying to schedule something with her.
