Getting to know Kelly Mach

I'm so glad you're here. I specialize in working with women through transitions and the inevitable challenges of life-college to career, deciding to have a child, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, motherhood, birth and early postpartum trauma, menopause, and beyond. I also support those dealing with disordered eating and body image issues. Of particular interest to me is helping women with a history of disordered eating as they navigate fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Manhattan College, which informs my compassionate and informed approach to care.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I value love, pleasure and adventure, and believe with all my heart and soul that these wonders of life are not only possible to maintain throughout the life span, but can expand and manifest in ways beyond our imagination in any season of life.
I employ several approaches and modalities in my work with clients including cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size (HAES) and Mindful Self-Compassion. I also support clients in learning to work with emotions as allies and sources of valuable information and wisdom, rather than things that hold us back or that we must hide.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I am passionate about supporting women in prioritizing their needs, uncovering trauma and associated narratives that are not helpful and showing up as the human you want to be - in your relationships, with your kids, at work/school and at home. I understand that this work looks different for everyone, and it's difficult to put a definite time frame on this process. I offer a solution-focused model that allows for flexibility in this process. I work with many busy folks (parents, professionals, students) and I find that offering solution-focused care can provide momentum when we are stuck. I am not the kind of therapist that will ruminate with you for years without any tangible feedback or structure. I know that if you are here, you are looking for immediate support and insight, and it is my goal to facilitate that to the best of my ability. I'm a busy working mom of two young kids myself, so I get it! Your time is valuable, you are valuable and you deserve this support.
