Getting to know Kenneth Turck
Kenny has been working in the mental health field for many years across many settings including hospital, residential, community-based, academic, and outpatient settings. For over three decades Kenny has presented locally, nationally, and internationally around trauma-informed and trauma-responsive practices and social groupwork. Kenny received a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Saint John's University (Collegeville, MN), his master's degree in Social Work from Saint Cloud State University (MN), and is completing his PhD in Social Work Research at the University of Minnesota. Kenny's research interests include social groupwork, nature-based social engagement, and it's influence on the autonomic nervous system function, more specifically Vagus Nerve function. Kenny is the founder and Executive Director of the Minnesota based 501(c)3 public charitable nonprofit corporation, DIRT GROUP Global. DIRT GROUP is an award-winning children's mental health application grounded in experiential learning/intelligence in the context of gardening, farming/foods, creative arts, and outdoor adventure projects. Kenny is a member of the International Association of Social Work with Group's, Mutual Aid Action Team. Kenny also volunteers with the Art of Living Foundation and practitioner of Sudarshan Kriya Yoga, or SKY Breath Meditation.
