Are you used to being the strong one? Maybe you spend your workdays holding space for everyone else. You listen. You problem-solve. You regulate. You care. And then someone asks, “So… how are YOU doing?” Suddenly, that’s a much harder, seemingly impossible question to answer; so you shift the focus to something else, anything else again. At Kiki’s Therapy Service, I offer relational and individual therapy for Black, BIPOC and LGBTQIA2+ individuals, couples, and consensually non-monogamous (CNM) relationships experiencing the impact of emotionally demanding careers, complex identities and relational distress. Because being good at caring for others doesn’t mean you have unlimited capacity. You care for everyone else. Let’s make some room for you. No gold stars required. No need to have it all figured out. And yes, you can be the therapist, social worker, healthcare professional, educator, advocate, or helper and still need support.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a relational therapist who strives for cultural competence, you will receive therapy rooted in evidence-based methods but tailored to see how the world and culture you live in affects you. This is a collaborative space, so based on your needs and goals, I predominantly utilize a blend of Narrative therapy, Emotion-focused therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Somatic therapy to support the connections you have with your mind, body and others. I like to bring the full range of emotions to our therapeutic space, so if you want a space where you can expect candor, humor, and the occasional hard truth served with empathy—not a lecture in disguise, then I think we might be a good fit.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I provide Individual Therapy & Relational Therapy for 90 minutes and specialized intensives upon request. I have intentionally committed to longer sessions because I specialize in frameworks that prioritize slowing down and making space for deeper, more holistic processing that keep all parts of your life in mind. Longer sessions aren't about cramming more therapy into your week. They're about giving complicated things enough room to actually be explored. This may be particularly beneficial if you or your partner/family member are: neurodivergent; working through complex, developmental, or medical trauma; redefining or discovering your identity; or navigating relationships that appear "nontraditional". Relational therapy includes couples, polycules, and consensually non-monogamous (CNM/ENM) relationships, as well as other relationship and family configurations. The rate is the same regardless of the number of people participating in the session. Whether it's CNM, chosen family, coparenting or something else I haven't mentioned; your relationship structures don't need to be explained away or “fixed” before we can talk about what's actually happening.

I offer a minimum of 90 minute sessions for individuals for $180 and relational sessions for $225. Longer extended sessions can also be arranged for clients who want the chance to benefit from specialized intensives. For individuals these services are primarily designed to process past trauma. For relationships these services are primarily designed to provide deepened relationship refocus for those that may struggle to arrange regular sessions due to scheduling and parenting restraints or those that want to spend time reigniting the "spark". Unfortunately, as a relational and extended-session focused therapy practice I am unable to panel directly with insurance. I can provide a super-bill upon request for those with qualifying out of network benefits.
