Psychotherapist
6 E 39th St, Ste 1000, New York, NY
Hi, I’m Kimone, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who works with adults navigating anxiety, confidence and self-esteem, cultural issues, and racial trauma. I also have a special focus on working with immigrant generations and LGBTQIA+ identified young adults. I’m passionate about helping you find and undo the sneaky negative self-talk you may not have realized was there. We all deserve to be ourselves, and with me, you are welcome to explore what that means in a calm space built on deep trust and support. My approach is integrative, with a person-centered foundation supported by mindfulness, multicultural humility, and trauma-informed care. I draw from CBT, DBT, Internal Family Systems, and others, and I tailor our work to who you are and what you need rather than using a one-size-fits-all method. I hold an Ed.M. and M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University, and I bring a genuine commitment to culturally responsive, compassionate care. You don’t have to navigate this alone. If you’re ready to take that first step, I’d love to connect and support you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means you’ll be met with warmth, patience, and genuine curiosity about who you are. I believe we all deserve to be ourselves, and I work to create a calm space built on trust where you can show up fully, without judgment. Whether you’re managing anxiety, rebuilding confidence and self-esteem, or processing the weight of cultural or racial experiences, I’ll meet you where you are. I bring multicultural humility to our work, which means I see you as the expert on your own life and identity. I especially value working with people from immigrant generations and LGBTQIA+ identified young adults, and I’m mindful of how those experiences can shape the way we see ourselves. Together, we’ll start noticing the sneaky negative self-talk that may have been running in the background and work on loosening its hold.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. I’ll ask about what brings you in, what’s been weighing on you, and what you hope will feel different, and you’re always welcome to ask me questions about how I work. From there, we’ll set goals together that feel meaningful to you. My approach starts from a person-centered foundation, and I draw from tools like CBT to identify and reframe negative thought patterns, DBT and mindfulness to strengthen emotional regulation, Motivational Interviewing to explore what change means to you, and Internal Family Systems and Somatic Experiencing to gently explore different parts of yourself and how stress shows up in your body. Everything we do is trauma-informed, so we’ll move at a pace that feels safe for you. Along the way, we’ll check in regularly about what’s working and adjust as your needs evolve.
