Kiyana Zachery, LMFT

Psychotherapist
MI
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with individuals, couples, and families going through difficult or overwhelming seasons of life. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or just feeling stuck, my goal is to help you make sense of what you’re experiencing and find a healthier way forward. My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while also taking a whole-person view—mind, body, and spirit. If faith is important to you, I’m able to incorporate that into our work in a way that feels genuine and supportive, not forced. I have experience working with trauma, high-conflict relationships, co-parenting challenges, and emotional regulation. I understand how heavy life can feel at times, especially when trust has been broken or when stress feels constant. In our sessions, I focus on helping you understand patterns, process what you’ve been carrying, and build practical tools you can actually use in your daily life. Clients often share that they appreciate having a space where they can be honest without feeling judged. I’m direct when needed, but always with care. Therapy with me is not just about talking—it’s about growth, clarity, and real change. If you’re ready to work through what’s been weighing on you and move toward something healthier, I’m here to support you.

Clients often share that they appreciate having a space where they can be honest without feeling judged. I’m direct when needed, but always with care. If you’re ready to work through what’s been weighing on you and move toward something healthier, I’m here to support you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to come in with questions, hesitation, or even a little anxiety. My goal is to create a space where you can feel comfortable being real—no pressure to have everything figured out. My style is warm, but also direct and intentional. I’m not the type of therapist who just listens and nods the entire time. I will ask thoughtful questions, help you look at patterns, and gently challenge you when needed so you can grow. At the same time, I’m very mindful to meet you where you are and move at a pace that feels safe for you. I tend to be structured in sessions, especially in the beginning, so we can clearly understand what’s going on and what you’d like to change. From there, we work together on building practical tools, improving communication, and processing deeper emotional experiences when needed. Above all, you can expect honesty, professionalism, and a space where you’re supported but also encouraged to do the work that leads to real change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first session, we focus on getting to know you—what’s been going on, what’s brought you to therapy, and what you’re hoping will feel different in your life. I’ll ask questions to understand your history, current stressors, and patterns, but there’s no pressure to share everything at once. We move at your pace. From there, sessions become more focused and goal-oriented. We’ll work together to identify patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and begin building practical tools to help you manage challenges more effectively. Depending on your needs, this may include improving communication, learning coping strategies, or processing deeper emotional experiences. I tend to keep sessions structured so you leave with something tangible—whether that’s insight, a new perspective, or a strategy you can apply in real life. I also often provide simple “homework” between sessions—things to reflect on, practice, or implement—so the work continues beyond our time together and leads to real progress. As we continue, we’ll track your progress, adjust goals as needed, and focus on helping you feel more confident, grounded, and in control of your life.
