Getting to know Kristen Math

I graduated with my Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2015 after completing a research practicum at the Minneapolis VA on PTSD and Intimate Partner Violence. I also completed an assessment practicum and a counseling and assessment internship. I worked as a psychometrist and counselor for nearly five years with autistic individuals before transitioning to online assessment work at the Minneapolis VA. At the end of that project, I began contributing as a social skills coach for IRLSocial Skills, working with individuals and their families effected by autism. I am also the Membership Chair for the Minnesota Counseling Association. Before qualifying in counseling, I earned my MS in Molecular Biology in 2001 from the University of Florida College of Medicine and taught lab classes for several years at my local university. I began Therapy Dynamics PLLC in 2021 as an online therapy and autism assessment practice in Minnesota. My mission is to provide quality therapy to those who need it. I provide neurodiversity affirming autism and ADHD assessments remotely for adults, and specialize in working with individuals with autism who are interested in learning relationship and friendship building skills. It is time for you to wake up with confidence about who you are and where you belong. Understanding yourself better will provide you with the opportunity to find peace and learn new skills if you are ready. I am here for you to walk you through this process and make it easier. Please email me with any questions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a down-to-earth therapist interested in helping you accomplish your therapy and assessment goals. I will work as hard as you do to make therapy and autism assessments successful experiences for you. I am out-of-network and offer Superbills for you to provide to your insurance company. A sliding scale is provided for those in need. I am not afraid to talk about the hard topics. I'm easy to talk to and I provide support and empathy for the issues that you are facing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our initial intake session, I will ask a lot of questions about your autism symptoms and experiences. Assessment takes two hours and involves the MIGDAS-2 interview. It is a relaxed way to assess autism through sensory feedback and your experiences. ADHD testing is optional and takes another hour. Finally, you will have a one hour feedback session where you get the results of your testing. A professional written report is provided within two weeks of testing to you and any providers that you list.
