Kristen Sexton, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CO
Beginning therapy can feel daunting. My role as a therapist is to meet you exactly where you’re at to help you begin to navigate your unique life experiences. You are the expert of your own lived experiences and I am here to walk beside you in the direction of clarity, healing, and peaceful existence, one safe step at a time. I received my Master’s in Human and Development Studies with a speciality in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Connecticut in 2014. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have experiences working with individuals of all ages and orientations. I’ve been in practice for the past 10 years and have worked in various settings including outpatient, community mental health, school settings, private practices and crisis residential services. I am trauma-informed and passionate about helping individuals throughout the lifespan reprocess their trauma safely so that they can use it as a stepping stone instead of a stumbling block or barrier in life. I have worked with clients to address anxiety, depression, PTSD, life transitions, grief/loss and relationship difficulties. I do not believe one therapeutic model fits all and will draw on various models and techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Experiential Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Trauma-Informed Talk Therapy and aspects of play therapy. Together, we will develop a comprehensive plan so that you can get the tools you need to help you reach your goals. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and for that I appreciate you. Please contact me to see if we're a good fit.
