About Kristie Tse
I completed my Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness with an Advanced Certificate in LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services at New York University. Prior to that, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Gender & Sexuality Studies at CUNY Brooklyn College. I also hold an Advanced Certificate in Integrated Mental Health/Addictions Treatment Training from Columbia Psychiatry, New York State Psychiatric Institute. Additionally, I am a certified yoga instructor through Yoga to the People. My areas of clinical expertise include, but are certainly not limited to, substance use, trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity issues, and relationship problems. I tailor my approach based on your unique needs. I strongly believe that a positive therapeutic relationship that is based on genuine empathy and cultural sensitivity creates an opportunity for insight, growth, and change. In most cases, I will utilize cognitive behavioral therapy in conjunction with other empirically supported practice, primarily motivational interviewing techniques, mindfulness-based interventions, and positive psychology, to address long-standing emotional barriers, distorted thinking, and behavioral patterns that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. Together, we can uncover your patterns, discover your potential, and recover your power over your life.

Patient reviews for Kristie Tse, LMHC
Kristie's ability in reading problems from the get-go, along with her laymen friendly explanations, made it easy for me to understand why I habitually fell into the same issues in the first place. These explanations, along with her readily available reading materials, homework, and guides, made it surprisingly easy to negate many of the negative thoughts that prevented me from looking for solutions to my problems in the first place once I took a few suggestions of hers to practice. With each session, it feels easier and easier to deal with overthinking and distracting negative thoughts that fueled my problems in the first place.
My first few visits with Kristie have been really helpful. She is great at balancing the conversation; I always feel like I get to say everything that was on my mind within the timed session and she offers the right amount of insight and advice. She makes me feel comfortable and understood while also giving me the reality check I need at times. Her comments and observations have helped me more clearly understand my feelings and what changes I need to make. She also uses the role playing technique often, which is helpful but also difficult to apply to real life situations if you're a passive person like me. The "homework" she gives me has also been great for making progress outside of the sessions and always feels productive.
Kristie's amazing, she really listens to what's going on and gently nudges me in the right direction when tackling my problems. I really appreciate the weekly homework she gives out since that gives me something to actively work on even when I'm not in session.
Kristie really listens and gives great therapy! I’ve been seeing her for about 2 years and would recommend her to anyone! With Kristie’s council, I have learned so much about myself and grown a lot.
My visit was great and very helpful and direct. It didn't take long for visible progress to be made both by Kristie and myself. Kristie also provides methods to deal with anxiety or other issues when not in therapy sessions. These coping mechanisms are helpful.
