“My appointment was done via a zoom type of environment. Because of this, I believe it was easier for me to take the jump and make my first therapy appointment. Schedule appointments is difficult for my work schedule and being able to see a therapist in the comfort of my own home made it easier for me. I scheduled with a different person listed on Zocdoc but was told immediately that I would be seen by someone else. As a first timer I was unsure of what to expect however I was pleasantly surprised about how easy it was to talk to the therapist. Although today was just my first session, I feel I had several positive takeaways from it. I’m incredibly happy I scheduled my first appointment. I am truly looking forward to my next session.”

She has a remarkable ability to provide the space (albeit virtual now) where I feel safe to share, and also for me to understand why I do what I do. Getting to know Kristie Tse

PLEASE NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, I am an out-of-network provider. Most PPO/POS insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits that may provide partial or full reimbursement. We're happy to verify your insurance benefits, or you can contact your insurance company to learn more before your appointment. Hi, I'm Kristie! Born and raised in New York, I know the pressure of being a high achiever is real. You know how to dream big, set goals, and achieve them; you understand how others measure success and how to work your way through that system to move up the ladder. Although you continue to achieve your goals, the self-imposed pressure to continuously perform is starting to weigh on you and your relationships. I'm here to tell you it doesn't have to be that way. I help high achievers in NYC cultivate fulfilling lives-without being more, having more, or doing more. These struggles often trace back to early childhood development that you have subconsciously internalized. I know this is not easy (if it were, everyone would be doing it). I will help you dig deep into your past, uncover its impact, learn another way of being, and integrate these new lessons in real time so you have the right guide to safely navigate through it. I earned my Master's in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University, where I also received a Certificate in LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services. This training informs my approach and commitment to providing inclusive, compassionate care. We're currently offering online therapy in NYC only. Appointments may be with a therapist under my supervision, but rest assured-your primary therapist and I will work closely together to help you meet your goals. We're heavily invested in your success, and nothing brings us more joy than setting clear goals and creating strategic plans to get our clients where they want to be. What should a new client know about working with you?

I tend to work with people who have spent a long time powering through life. You might look accomplished on the outside while quietly feeling overwhelmed, lonely, or unsure how to slow down. If you are used to being the strong one in your family or friend group, it can feel unfamiliar to let someone in. I understand that. A lot of clients come to me because they want support without having to explain the full weight of their background or identity every time they talk. My style is collaborative, direct, and warm. I am active in sessions. I ask questions that help you get curious about yourself, and I name patterns you might not realize you are repeating. I pay attention to how your upbringing, culture, and life experiences show up in the present. My goal is not to fix you. My goal is to help you understand yourself in a way that brings relief, clarity, and more freedom in how you move through the world. The work we do often connects the dots between what is happening in your day-to-day life and the deeper story underneath it. We might talk about the pressure you put on yourself, how you learned to keep emotions tucked away, or why burnout feels like it is right behind you. We also talk about the relationships you want, the boundaries that feel hard, and the parts of your identity that deserve more room. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I am honest, down-to-earth, and not afraid to gently challenge them. Sessions tend to feel like real conversations. There is space for humor, for silence when you need it, and for naming the things you usually avoid saying out loud. You do not need to show up polished or certain. You just need to show up as you are. I will meet you there and help you build a relationship with yourself that feels more grounded, kind, and sustainable over time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I like to give clients a clear sense of what our work will look like from the very beginning. Therapy with me is not passive. It is a step-by-step process that helps you understand why you operate the way you do and how to build a life that feels calmer, more intentional, and more aligned with who you are becoming. Cover Your Past We start by getting to know your story. I listen closely to your history, your family dynamics, and the pressures that shaped you. Together we look at how those early experiences still influence the way you move through the world, even if you have outgrown them. Uncover Your Patterns Once we understand the context, we look at the patterns you repeat without realizing it. This might include people-pleasing, perfectionism, emotional suppression, or the instinct to handle everything alone. We get curious about where these habits came from and why they feel so hard to shake. Discover Your Potential With some clarity around your patterns, we shift into building. I introduce practical tools, evidence-based strategies, and new ways of thinking so you can feel more confident, more present, and less overwhelmed. You start to see what is possible when you are not running on fear or pressure. Recover Your Power As you grow, the work becomes about practicing this new version of yourself. You learn to set boundaries, rest without guilt, and make choices that support the life you want. My goal is to help you feel fulfilled while doing less, without losing your ambition or drive. You do not have to run on autopilot or muscle through everything alone. I am here to help you slow down, understand yourself, and build a life that genuinely supports you.

More information on payments and coverage

I am an out-of-network provider, and many of my clients receive partial or full reimbursement for their sessions. To make this easier for you, my practice submit claims to most PPO insurance plans on your behalf so you do not have to track paperwork or deal with the back-and-forth with insurance. Before we begin, I encourage you to call your insurance plan to check your out-of-network benefits. Ask about your deductible, your coinsurance rate, and whether telehealth is covered. I can guide you on the specific questions to ask if you are unsure. Payment is collected at the time of each session. I accept all major credit and debit cards, HSA, and FSA. Once claims are processed, your insurance company will send reimbursement directly to you based on your plan. If you do not have out-of-network benefits or prefer not to use insurance, I also offer a private pay option. My goal is to make the financial side of therapy as manageable as possible so you can focus on feeling better, not navigating red tape.

I had a televisit (due to the lockdowns under COVID-19) with one of my Kristie’s therapists under her supervision. It was great. I’ve had numerous therapists before who just didn’t “get” me. Theresa listened to me, and we figured out what our plan would be going forward to address all my concerns. I can’t wait for our next session.
Kristie is great. She's a great listener and always gives very thoughtful and helpful feedback and advice. She's also is very flexible in terms of finding time to see me. She's been very helpful throughout the COVID crisis as well - making herself available throughout.
Sessions with Kristie are always productive. When I first started therapy, I was skeptical about how talking to someone can help me better control my anxiety. The amount of clarity I've gained with each session really surprised me - I've become more clear about what the root of my problem is and how I can better manage my anxiety so that I don't repeat old patterns. Kristie is great at what she does and I look forward to my weekly visits with her!
Kristie has been wonderful since I started seeing her late February. She encourages me to think deeply about and challenge the topics we discuss, all while maintaining a comfortable air and space to do so. Even with the current situation, she was readily available to use telehealth services (including the new video appointment service on Zocdoc, which worked well on our first test run). Cannot recommend her enough!

Kristie Tse's approach has been really effective for me. Like any decent therapist, she has really positive energy and is a great listener. What sets her apart, in my experience, is her ability to zero in on specific areas I can focus on and work through. I feel like every week I'm making identifiable progress on an issue I care about. Over the course of about 6 months, I've covered more ground and made more progress with Kristi than I managed over years with other therapists I've seen. I've seen multiple therapists over the years, and Kristie is probably the best I've encountered. Beyond the therapeutic process, Kristie makes administrative matters easy. Her office is conveniently located. She is always on time. She responds quickly to things like billing questions.
Kristie has changed my whole outlook on therapy. Prior to my first visit with her, I hadn't seen a therapist since childhood so I was anxious to get started. While a crisis brought me into Kristie's office, the silver lining has been my ability to finally start taking care of myself after so many years. Kristie is so easy to talk to - she listens and shows empathy, while still challenging me to make positive changes in my life. She's made herself available to me outside of our scheduled sessions and truly cares about my wellbeing. I'm grateful to have her support and look forward to our future sessions.
I enjoy my time with Kristie. When I was able to attend sessions in person, her room was always super well kept and smelled great. Her bedside manner is excellent - she is super gentle during discussions and never makes me feel uncomfortable. She is knowledgeable on things that directly impact my life(I'm a transgender person). She provides me with information on my triggers and offers me simple and straightforward coping mechanisms. I would highly recommend her.
During my time with Kristie, I've never felt judged or shamed. I feel like I have a safe space to be as honest and open when we talk. Kristie is also great for keeping you accountable without being forceful (if that's what you're looking for) and encourages you to face your issues. She's never made me feel dumb even though I feel like I ask obtuse / unnecessary questions. She's given me plenty of reading to tackle on-going issues & behaviors that I want to address.
I can only say good things! She's caring, she’s insightful, and she challenges me. I would give her more stars if I could. She set the tone with her warm personality and put me at ease from our initial meeting. Our sessions thereafter are always a place where I feel challenged and supported to make changes. She recalls details from sessions before, takes the time to listen to my concerns, and knows exactly where to go from there. She's determined for me to win and has a plan for me to do so. I am so grateful for all the tools she has provided me and I appreciate how accessible she has been between our sessions whenever I needed additional help. I feel like she brought out the best in me and stars can't justify what I have gained through our sessions together. All in all, superb therapist!

I am so thankful for the help and tools Kristie provided to me. I had tremendous anxiety before seeing Kristie and in just two visits I have learned ways to ease my anxiety and fears. Kristie listens intently and provides feedback and advice when necessary. She opened my eyes to many parts of my life that I couldn't see and helped me navigate my current situation. I highly recommend Kristie.
My initial visit with Kristie was very good. She's seems to be an excellent therapist who's actually willing to listen and help. Her goal is to get you to a point where you don't need therapy and I like that!

I highly recommend Kristie as an attentive and thoughtful clinician. She has helped me make connections and realize the work that needs to be done on my end. Her office is warm and inviting, and in a very convenient location.
This was my first ever therapy session! I was nervous and anxious about it the entire day! Even sometimes feeling is it worth it and maybe my anxiety will get better with time. However, I put all my worries aside and went. It was an incredible and life changing experience! I felt at ease throughout my entire visit and even after my session was over. I can not express my ultimate gratitude on how much care, attention, and warmth I received that day. I left happy and with a sense of hope that I can eventually be able to manage all of my insecurities with her guidance and support. I look forward to my future visits with Kristie.
I really appreciate the patience that Kristie has with me, especially when there are certain issues we discuss that I tend to constantly focus on. I also appreciate that even when I think that a certain topic or issue is not important or a big deal in the grand scheme of things, she still makes me feel like it should be discussed and is important since it is something that I do stress about. Finally, I really appreciate the level of comfort that Kristie provides with these sessions, and really believe that the tools I learn during these sessions will help me in the future.
My first few visits with Kristie have been really helpful. She is great at balancing the conversation; I always feel like I get to say everything that was on my mind within the timed session and she offers the right amount of insight and advice. She makes me feel comfortable and understood while also giving me the reality check I need at times. Her comments and observations have helped me more clearly understand my feelings and what changes I need to make. She also uses the role playing technique often, which is helpful but also difficult to apply to real life situations if you're a passive person like me. The "homework" she gives me has also been great for making progress outside of the sessions and always feels productive.
Kristie's ability in reading problems from the get-go, along with her laymen friendly explanations, made it easy for me to understand why I habitually fell into the same issues in the first place. These explanations, along with her readily available reading materials, homework, and guides, made it surprisingly easy to negate many of the negative thoughts that prevented me from looking for solutions to my problems in the first place once I took a few suggestions of hers to practice. With each session, it feels easier and easier to deal with overthinking and distracting negative thoughts that fueled my problems in the first place.
Kristie's amazing, she really listens to what's going on and gently nudges me in the right direction when tackling my problems. I really appreciate the weekly homework she gives out since that gives me something to actively work on even when I'm not in session.
Kristie really listens and gives great therapy! I’ve been seeing her for about 2 years and would recommend her to anyone! With Kristie’s council, I have learned so much about myself and grown a lot.
My visit was great and very helpful and direct. It didn't take long for visible progress to be made both by Kristie and myself. Kristie also provides methods to deal with anxiety or other issues when not in therapy sessions. These coping mechanisms are helpful.
