Getting to know Laura Costanzo

Hi! I'm Laura. I have been working in the field of mental health and substance abuse counseling for the last 13 years. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in 2018 and have been fully licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado since 2021. I began my career as a counselor in a residential substance abuse treatment center supporting individuals in their healing from substance abuse disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders. For the last 3 years, I have been working as a crisis clinician with local law enforcement. I have found that a central component of any healing journey is working towards a positive relationship with self. I utilize a person-centered approach with the understanding that you are the expert on yourself while I am present to offer perspective, feedback, and gentle challenges to support you in achieving your goals. I will do this through a framework of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy where we will explore thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and the relationship between these aspects of self. I pull from other approaches to clinical work, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, for purposes of developing healthy coping in response to life's inevitable stressors. I am an avid runner, lover of animals (we can discuss the benefits that animal-assisted therapy if you'd like), and above all else, I am a mom.
