Getting to know Dr. Lauren Gonzales

If you’re struggling with intense emotions, sudden stressors or confusing experiences, challenging relationship patterns, or identity questions, you don't have to navigate it alone. I work collaboratively and holistically, meaning therapy is something we do together, not something done to you. In our work, we form a partnership - combining your lived experience with my expertise - to help you feel more grounded, empowered, and capable of moving toward the life you want. What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Whether you're working toward a specific goal or simply seeking support, my practice aims to help reduce distress and increase quality of life. I also have specialized training and expertise in psychosis (CBTp). My practice is fully virtual, and I can meet with clients located in New York State or New Jersey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first thing to do is book a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if I am the right therapist to help you reach your goals. From there, in our first session we will explore what brought you to therapy. I will ask you to describe any current stressors and distress, what you would like your life to look like, and anything you believe is keeping you from reaching it. We will then come up with a treatment plan together, using periodic check-ins to make sure we're on the right track.
