What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is a judgment-free process grounded in curiosity, compassion, honesty, and, at times, humor. Rather than focusing solely on a diagnosis, I consider the connections between mental and physical health, recognizing how emotional well-being, biology, relationships, environment, and life experiences influence one another. Inquisitiveness continues to fuel my passion for this work after many years — no two people arrive at the same place the same way, and I find tremendous meaning in understanding each person's unique story. I balance acceptance and validation with gentle challenges to help patients unlock greater freedom while building trust in their ability to cope with obstacles. Ultimately, I want to support people in moving beyond simply surviving toward creating lives that feel meaningful and worth living.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Meaningful growth begins with understanding, but it also requires practical ways to approach life differently. In my clinical work, I guide patients toward recognizing the patterns that keep them stuck while developing skills that support sustainable progress. I’m passionate about helping people better appreciate their strengths and discover how even deeply ingrained habits can evolve. Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) informs much of my practice because it combines acceptance and validation with the belief that people can change. I find it incredibly rewarding to help clients recognize their capacity to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, communicate more effectively, and make choices that reflect the lives they want to build. My approach integrates dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and motivational interviewing. When clinically appropriate, I incorporate elements of exposure and response prevention and internal family systems. I particularly enjoy collaborating with those who feel stuck in avoidance, fear, or emotional overwhelm.
