Leah Harlan, LPC

Leah Harlan, LPC

Psychotherapist
VA
You feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or like you're carrying invisible weight no one else sees? Whether you're an adult juggling the pressures of daily life or a child struggling to manage big emotions, therapy is a space to feel seen and supported. I specialize in helping both kids and adults navigate anxiety, ADHD, burnout, and the lasting impact of difficult past experiences. My goal is to help you reconnect with yourself, improve emotional regulation, and find practical ways to feel better—without losing who you are. As a trauma-informed therapist, I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems (IFS), and somatic approaches to help you explore what’s behind the anxiety or shutdown. You’ll gain skills to handle life more effectively, improve your relationships, and experience more calm, confidence, and joy. I believe in balancing insight and action, so we’ll talk—but we’ll also practice. Sometimes that means learning how to express needs clearly. Sometimes it means play-based work with children to build coping tools and self-worth in a developmentally appropriate way. I received my Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and have worked in community nonprofits, schools, and now private practice. My work is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and creativity—and yes, that sometimes includes art, humor, or metaphor when words fall short. You don’t need to “fix” yourself to start. You just need a place where it’s safe to feel, explore, and grow. I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
