"The provider is a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern" *After booking, you will receive a link via IntakeQ so you can complete the required intake forms prior to your appointment* I was part of a cross-cultural counseling environment where patients were often navigating the painful process of loss and separation from home countries, difficulties fitting in due to language and cultural barriers, and racial microaggressions. I also worked in women's mental health and women's empowerment. I co-facilitating a women's empowerment therapy group that covered attachment trauma, relationship issues, body image issues, sexuality and values, sexual communication issues, sexual development difficulty or trauma, and intimacy issues. Some of the women in the group came from cultures where it's not appropriate, in many circumstances, to discuss intimate feelings with their parents. I had the opportunity to work with some of our community's most vulnerable populations, including outpatient treatment of patients who displayed symptoms of psychosis, patients who were unhoused, patients with severe agoraphobia, personality disorders, and long-term debilitating illnesses.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have experience with many diagnoses, and while there isn't one area I'm particularly more adept in than others, my caseload has often included major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), agoraphobia with mixed panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), prolonged grief disorder (PGD), bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder (BPD), delusional disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia). I have experience working with specific groups of people, including primarily young women of East Asian descent and a hugely diverse population across age, race, religion, sexuality, and socioeconomic status. I also tended to have more LGBTQIA+ individuals on my caseload due to my personal identity as a queer person. What I'm most passionate about in mental healthcare is having the potential to be someone's partner in the healing process. I treat the honor of access to a person's deepest vulnerabilities, fears, and conscious and unconscious processes with the utmost respect. I believe in bearing witness to another person's story, life, pain, and success in an incredibly intimate yet boundaried way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to care is grounded in holding space for complexities and uncertainties on the path to transformation. I like a combination of insight-oriented therapy (psychodynamic work, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT), and parts work) with body-based, somatic, and trauma-informed practices like eye-movement desensitization & reprocessing therapy (EMDR). My hope is to create a relationship that feels safe, to work towards healing relational trauma through the therapeutic relationship first, and to use the foundation of that relationship to work towards all other therapeutic goals. It can take time, energy, and commitment to create that safe holding space, and I want you to know that I am your partner in this work. It is meant to be collaborative, and I want you to feel you can question and challenge me, and, most importantly, let me know if there's been any rupture or misstep so we can address it together and create a strong foundation in the therapeutic relationship.
