Getting to know Lindsey Acocella

Lindsey is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Trauma Certified. She will work with you to identify your areas of concern and desired goals. Lindsey has a style of ?meeting you where you're at,? respecting your pace in therapy while finding supportive ways to challenge you toward your ideal therapeutic outcomes. Lindsey earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy from Arizona State University, Tempe. With a 7-year history in the field, she has worked at one of the largest agencies in New York City and enjoyed working at a boutique mental health clinic in Arizona before opening her private practice. Her passion includes working with young women, couples, and families. While she uses various modalities, she finds the most success using EFT and Gottman with couples, as well as DBT and CBT for her individual clients.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I tend to match my therapeutic approach to what I see best fits the clients personality, presenting struggles, and what is most clinically appropriate based on their needs. My approaches of preference include EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and Solution Focused Therapy. I also enjoy using Gottman with the couples I work with!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session getting started, includes going through presenting concerns, your history and background, as well as your goals for therapy. If you aren't sure what those goals are, no problem! I'm here to support in that as well. Otherwise, my approach is fairly laid back. I like to use weekly sessions to support in what the client wants to discuss, while making sure goals are being addressed. This may include giving you the space to talk through whatever happened that week, or whatever is on your mind, or going through specific skills you can begin to apply in your daily life. I always come with a plan for session, but I'm flexible based on what my client needs that day.

I’ve been working with Lindsey for over a few years now. I’ve been through several other therapists in the past, but clicked with her immediately! She has taught me so much and helped me grow immensely. I have become someone my last year’s self wouldn’t recognize with her help, I am forever grateful and i’m still continuing to become the best version of myself each session. Lindsey is very authentic, genuine, personable and makes me feel more than welcome and safe to be vulnerable around. Yes I am on medication, which has helped my symptoms (surface level), but Lindsey really dives deep into the root of the issue and guides me in the right direction that is healing to my problems rather than covering them up or just “venting”. I honestly don’t know where I would be today or what I’d do without her. Thanks Lindsey!!
Very professional and kind! Every conversation and interaction with her has been very empathetic and helpful, she is a great communicator.
Lindsey is an incredible listener and has made my wife and I feel so comfortable in our appointments. She has helped us grow in our communication style and work through difficult conversations. We can’t recommend her enough!

Lindsey is amazing! It has been such a great experience. She creates a judgement free zone and is empathetic, very helpful and realistic at the same time. She is quick to provide personalized resources with whatever I am struggling with. Each session I feel helps me unfold myself to a greater understanding of life situations and the most ideal ways for me to approach them. I always feel relieved after our sessions. I’m very glad I am able to speak to someone who actively listens. I feel heard and seen. She has been such a huge help in my personal and emotional growth. The best therapist I’ve had, no doubt.
