Life is messy. Anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship challenges, grief, addiction, past trauma, or simply trying to hold everything together can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself or stuck in patterns you can’t seem to change. Maybe you understand why you feel the way you do—or maybe none of it makes sense yet. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Art Therapist with 17+ years of experience helping people navigate trauma, addiction, attachment and relationship challenges, identity, and difficult life transitions. I have particular experience working with trauma, including combat trauma and sexual abuse and assault. I believe people make sense in the context of their experiences. Therapy can help you understand how you got here, reconnect with yourself, and decide what you want to carry forward and what you’re ready to change. My goal is to help you build greater self-trust, create healthier patterns, and move through your life with more choice and intention.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is human. I don’t believe it needs to feel cold, overly clinical, or like you’re being analyzed from across the room. My style is warm, open-minded, collaborative, and direct. I’ll meet you where you are, sit with you in the hard things, ask thoughtful questions, offer practical tools, and challenge you when it matters—while making sure you feel safe enough to do the work. You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what’s wrong, what you need, or even where to begin. Part of our work can be figuring that out together. We’ll get curious about the ways you’ve learned to cope, protect yourself, relate to others, and see yourself—and whether those patterns are still serving you. I integrate evidence-based approaches, attachment theory, neuroscience, mindfulness, and creative or experiential approaches when they’re useful. There’s also room for humor, authenticity, and being a real person in the therapy room. Therapy is tailored to you, your goals, your strengths, and your story.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll start by getting to know you beyond a diagnosis or list of symptoms. I want to understand what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’ve been through, what’s happening in your life now, what has helped you survive and cope, and what you want to be different. From there, we’ll begin connecting the dots. Together, we may explore how past experiences continue to shape your emotions, relationships, coping strategies, self-image, and the patterns you find yourself repeating. We’ll identify what’s helping, what’s getting in the way, and where meaningful change feels possible. Our work may include developing practical skills for managing emotions and navigating difficult situations while also doing the deeper work of understanding and changing longstanding patterns. I don’t believe therapy is one-size-fits-all, so we’ll continually adjust our approach based on what you need. Ultimately, the goal isn’t just insight—it’s helping you develop greater self-understanding and self-trust, build healthier ways of relating to yourself and others, and respond to your life with intention rather than simply reacting from old wounds.
