What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with us is a collaborative and supportive experience. We take the time to understand who you are, what brings you in, and what you hope to change or explore. Our approach is warm, relational, and grounded in evidence based practices, while also honoring your lived experience, identity, and values. You can expect your first session to focus on getting to know you. We will talk through your goals, your history, and what has or has not worked for you in the past. From there, we will work together to create a plan that feels both meaningful and realistic. Our clinicians draw from a range of approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and trauma informed care. We prioritize creating a space that feels affirming, especially for clients in the LGBTQ community and those seeking culturally responsive care. We also believe that healing happens both inside and outside of the therapy room. Through our integrated model, the FLWG Way, clients have the option to engage in workshops and wellness groups that support growth across multiple areas of life. Above all, we want you to feel seen, respected, and supported as you move toward the changes you are seeking.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our process begins with an initial intake session where we take time to understand your concerns, history, and goals for therapy. This first session is also an opportunity for you to get a feel for your clinician and ask any questions to ensure it feels like a good fit. From there, we typically meet on a weekly basis, especially at the start of treatment, to build consistency and momentum. Sessions are about 45 to 55 minutes and are tailored to your needs. Some sessions may focus on processing emotions and experiences, while others may be more structured and goal oriented depending on what is most helpful for you. Our clinicians integrate a range of approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and trauma informed care. We balance insight and reflection with practical tools and strategies you can use in your daily life. Throughout the process, we will regularly check in on your goals and progress, making adjustments as needed to ensure the work remains meaningful and effective. For clients interested in a more holistic experience, we also offer access to workshops and wellness groups through our integrated model of care, the FLWG Way, which supports growth beyond individual sessions. Our goal is to create a consistent, supportive space where you can build insight, develop new skills, and move toward lasting change.
