The provider is supervised by Dwayne Frei. Hey there! I’m Lyndsy Donnell, LPC-Associate. I know what it feels like when life knocks you down and you’re left trying to hold everything together on the outside while falling apart inside. I’ve sat in that chair too, wondering if therapy would help, wondering if I’d be judged, wondering if I’d even know what to say. As a mom and someone who got my ADHD and Autism diagnoses later in life, I know how heavy it feels to carry stress, grief, and self-doubt while trying to just keep moving. That’s why I do this work. I don’t see therapy as “fixing” people; you’re not broken. Therapy is about having a place to breathe, unload the things you can’t say anywhere else, and feel less alone while figuring out your next steps. I work with kids, teens, and adults who are dealing with overwhelm, big emotions, life changes, disability-related challenges, or just the sense that things feel harder than they “should.” My approach is down-to-earth, not clinical or cold. I want you to feel safe enough to be messy, honest, and fully yourself. I offer virtual therapy anywhere in Texas. I don’t take insurance, but I’ll work with you on payment because I believe mental health care should actually be accessible.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me isn’t a script or a set of boxes to check. It’s tailored to you. Some days you might want structure and strategies, other days you might just need a safe space to let it out, and both are equally valid. My style is warm, conversational, and honest. I’ll listen without judgment, but I’ll also challenge you when it helps you grow. I work with children, teens, and adults, and the way we meet will reflect your personality and needs. For kids, that might mean games or activities to keep sessions engaging. For adults, it might mean practical tools you can actually use in daily life. No matter who you are, I meet you where you are, and we build from there. You don’t have to have the “right” words or know exactly what’s wrong before you start. Just showing up is enough. Together, we’ll figure out what works best for you—at your pace, in your way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is about building comfort and getting to know your story. I’ll ask questions about what brought you in, what you’ve been carrying, and what you’d like to change. There’s no pressure to have it all figured out; sometimes all you can say is, “I just know I can’t keep doing this alone.” That’s more than enough. After that, our sessions usually balance two things: space to process and practical tools. Some weeks you may need time to talk through tough emotions, other weeks you may want strategies for managing stress, setting boundaries, or handling relationships. I use approaches like CBT, DBT, and person-centered therapy, but I don’t force a method. If something doesn’t work for you, we adjust. Sessions are conversations, not lectures. We might notice patterns, practice coping strategies, or sit with emotions you’ve avoided. And yes, sometimes there’s laughter too; healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy. For local clients, sessions can even look like walking outside together or meeting in your home for a more natural feel. Above all, therapy with me is collaborative. You set the pace, you bring what’s on your mind, and I walk alongside you as you create change.
