What should a new client know about working with you?

Madeleine primarily works with pregnant persons and new parents with children 0-5 about concerns including postpartum depression and anxiety, help with the transition to parenthood, pregnancy loss, parenting skills, etc. She also works with disabled individuals/families, especially neurodivergence, and developmental and intellectual impairments. Madeleine uses tools from various treatment methods depending on your needs. She has extra training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), play therapies, and others. Madeleine has a strong focus on constantly striving to learn and pursue a deeper understanding of the work. She is always looking for new training to be a better therapist for you and your family. Madeleine works with you to figure out what you want and need out of therapy – coming up with goals and choosing how you want to work toward those goals. However, her primary method is establishing a strong therapeutic relationship and creating a safe space for you, children, and families to build on strengths, gain new tools and skills, and address concerns.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The intake process takes about 3 sessions to fully understand history, current concerns and strengths. We then create a treatment plan together based on what you want our time to be focused on. Then each session we discuss concerns from that week as well as address any themes that are relevant to the goals we created together for the treatment plan. Each session is between 45 and 60 minutes depending on needs. If you are a parent with a young child or infant, our session length may be determined by the needs of the child. If the session is meant as time for you, it is encouraged to find a private space. However, children are welcome; as an infant mental health provider, I am totally comfortable with infants and young children being present.
