Madeline Meadows, LCMHC

Psychotherapist
VA
The provider is a Resident in Counseling. You might feel like you’re holding everything together while running on empty. Maybe you’ve been moving through grief, tension in relationships, family stress, or a general sense of restlessness that you can’t quite shake. You deserve a space where you don’t have to be “the strong one,” a space where you can slow down, exhale, and feel understood. As both a school counselor and a therapist, I’ve spent years helping teens and adults navigate the emotions, pressures, and transitions that can make life feel heavy. I don’t show up as the expert telling you how to live your life, I show up as a steady partner walking beside you as we make sense of what you’re carrying. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more connected to yourself, and more capable of moving through your day with clarity and confidence. Together, we can sort through the noise, understand the patterns that keep showing up, and build practical tools to support your well-being. If you’re tired of holding everything alone, I’m here to help you take the next step at a pace that feels safe and sustainable.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often tell me that sessions with me feel steady, warm, and unhurried. I’m not here to judge, fix, or rush you. I’m here to give you space to slow down and make sense of what’s happening inside and around you. My style is collaborative; I believe therapy works best when we work side-by-side, honoring your lived experience while bringing in tools that support real change. You can expect me to show up as myself: grounded, attentive, and honest. I’ll ask thoughtful questions, reflect patterns I notice, and help you explore what’s underneath the stress, sadness, restlessness, or overwhelm you’ve been carrying. I also value practicality. It’s important to me that you leave sessions with something you can hold onto; whether that’s a clearer understanding of your emotions, a strategy to navigate a difficult moment, or simply the reassurance that you’re not doing this alone. Therapy with me isn’t about perfection or quick fixes. It’s about creating a space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to take steps (small or big) toward a more grounded and sustainable life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work will always begin with understanding what brings you in and what you hope will feel different. In our first few sessions, we’ll explore your story, the stressors you’re navigating, and how these experiences show up in your daily life: emotionally, physically, and relationally. As we move forward, sessions are shaped by both your immediate needs and your long-term goals. Some weeks we may focus on processing something heavy or confusing that came up recently. Other weeks we might zoom out and look at the bigger patterns- the habits, beliefs, or dynamics that keep you feeling stuck. Throughout our work, I integrate practical tools with reflective conversation. That might look like grounding exercises for restlessness, strategies for navigating relationship or family stress, or exploring what your emotions are trying to communicate. We go at a pace that feels safe for you, and I’ll always check in about what’s working and what isn’t. My priority is that therapy feels supportive, consistent, and useful; a space where you don’t have to carry everything alone, and where meaningful change can happen over time.
