Getting to know Madison West

I work with individuals who are experiencing difficulties with depression, anxiety, substance use, interpersonal/relationship issues, questions of identity, or feeling stuck in patterns of behavior. My curious, collaborative, and compassionate approach allows you to explore your inner world and current challenges in a safe, affirming environment. I view therapy as a space in which you can bring your entire self, including your pain, joy, and possibilities for transformation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Perhaps you’ve noticed feelings of sadness, depression, anxiety, anger, or feeling stuck in patterns of behavior. Maybe you’re struggling with relationship or work-related issues and feeling unsettled. You know something just isn’t right, and want to find a way to change. In listening to this part of yourself, you’ve taken an important step in identifying that you yearn for something more. In our psychotherapeutic work together, we can help you uncover the roots of your problems, explore your inner world, and gain insight about your past and present to help improve your mood and behaviors in the future. My practice is rooted in non-judgmental, anti-racist, and LBGTQ+ affirmative mental health care. In addition to seeing patients in private practice, I am also a faculty member at the Silberman School at Hunter College. I teach clinical seminars based on psychodynamic theory and practice. I’m sure you have many questions regarding your journey. I look forward to answering any questions you might have about the psychotherapeutic process you've been seeking. My office is conveniently located in midtown Manhattan.
