“As another reviewer said, Marcie makes therapy not suck. I genuinely look forward to our appointments and always walk away feeling a bit better equipped to navigate life and all its stressors. As a chronic "I'm fine!" type person, I appreciate Marcie's conversational approach to therapy and through our sessions, she has helped me uncover/examine underlying issues that otherwise would have remained buried. I'd highly recommend her to anyone looking for a competent, compassionate, and open-minded therapist. ”

What should a new client know about working with you?

As an integrative psychotherapist, Marcie curates therapy sessions to meet each individual’s needs. She is dedicated to creating a safe space to explore one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Marcie believes that within therapy, creating goals that align with one’s values that ultimately improve one’s well-being is the foundational basis of the therapeutic work. Before earning an MS in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University, Marcie was a student-athlete at the University of Virginia, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology. As a division one swimmer, Marcie experienced the impact of mental health on one’s performance and well-being. She understands the difficulties of prioritizing mental health when there are hundreds of other things to do, and encourages her patients to prioritize their mental health especially when things feel chaotic. Marcie believes in collaboration, noting when we are at our max, we don't have to go through it alone.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In her sessions, Marcie is passionate about meeting her patients where they are at; she respects the patient's autonomy to discuss and process what they choose to. She places an emphasis on examining and improving one’s relationship with others and themselves, while addressing symptoms that are impacting daily life. Marcie works collaboratively with patients to develop effective tools and strategies to overcome one’s obstacles or stressors. Additionally, she focuses on processing past events that impact present day habits in order to optimize one’s future. She believes strengthening self-awareness and self-acceptance is crucial to creating this lasting positive change.

Marcie makes therapy not suck. I’ve never actually looked forward to it before and Janet was amazing during intake as well.

Marcie has been a great therapist. She is kind, a great listener, and always gives a thought-provoking analysis on whatever I may be going through during our sessions. She's allowed me to view my imperfections not as flaws, but as a highlight of me being human.
Marcie has been truly instrumental in helping me confront and understand past traumas, current dilemmas, frustrations with how I function (or don't) - every aspect of my life. I can confidently say my every one of my relationships has benefited from the work done in our sessions; with my family, with my partner, even with myself. I avoided therapy for as long as I could, employing a litany of excuses ranging from financial strain to scheduling issues to straight up self-delusion ("I'm fine, I'm fine"). I am so happy I finally got out of my own way and realized that regardless of how serious/trivial I perceived my struggles, there is no shame in admitting I could use a little help. In fact, it has been the best gift I've ever given myself.
Marcie is the absolute best and has truly made such a difference in our lives. My fiancé and I decided to do couples counseling pre-marriage, and our experience has been nothing short of wonderful. Of course, therapy can be hard at times, but Marcie's positive demeanour and empathetic ear allow us a space where we can express ourselves without fear of judgment. The office is quaint and comfortable, and the location is great for an after session walk in Central Park.
I've been going to Marcie for a couple of months now and she has been so helpful in guiding my thoughts and life stressors in a positive, healthy direction. She listens with compassion and kindness and helps me so much. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a non-judgmental space to see her.
