Psychotherapist
WA
Hey, my name is Maria. A little bit about me. I was born and raised in Washington State. I am the proud daughter of immigrant parents, who are hardworking agriculture workers that sacrificed a lot for me to be where I am. I am a therapist because I find so much beauty and fulfillment in being part of the empowerment process of any human being finding themselves again and when they are comfortable living and accepting their authentic selves. I am a licensed therapist in Washington State, with more than 12 year's experience. I provide therapy in English and Spanish. I have worked with a broad range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, low self-esteem, ADHD, physical trauma (i.e. work injury), physical, sexual and emotional abuse. My counseling style is strengths-based and client centered, which means I see you as the expert of your life, while I assist and guide you through your healing journey towards joy and freedom. I believe in treating you with respect, sensitivity, inclusivity, and compassion. My therapy approach combines cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy to accomplish your therapy goals. I tailor therapy to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes strength and courage to seek for and take steps towards healing, joy and freedom. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to participating in this journey with you

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe therapy can be a deeply beneficial experience for individuals who want to work through mental health challenges and improve their overall well-being. My goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative space where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout their journey. Finding the right therapist is an important first step, and I strive to be a trusted partner in each patient’s care. I work closely with patients to understand their unique concerns, identify meaningful goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to their needs. I encourage open and honest communication in therapy, as this helps build a clear understanding of each patient’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I also emphasize the importance of trusting the therapeutic process. Meaningful progress can take time, and patience is often an essential part of growth and healing. In addition to therapy sessions, I encourage patients to prioritize self-care through practices that support emotional and physical wellness, such as exercise, mindfulness, and spending time with supportive loved ones. I also encourage patients to keep an open mind, as different therapeutic techniques and approaches may offer new perspectives and tools for personal growth. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I value ongoing communication throughout treatment. With commitment, openness, and support, therapy can be a transformative experience that helps patients achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
