Investing in therapy is valuable to your overall well-being, paving the way for personal growth for a more fulfilling life. We will work together to understand and process difficult emotions, without judgment, and develop healthy coping skills. My approach I utilize empirically supported treatments (EST), which are treatments that have been shown to be effective in treating specific conditions. I am extensively trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and recently trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization) for trauma. My focus I treat primarily trauma and anxiety symptoms. Whether that may be PTSD, Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or Specific Phobias. I also work with patients with chronic health conditions and rare disorders such as FND/Conversion disorder. My communication style My communication style is collaborative. Therapy is your time, so it's important for me to get your input on what works and what doesn't. At times I may have to be direct, that's part of my job, but it will always happen in a supportive and therapeutic environment. My journey to mental healthcare I became a psychologist to help others, and through time, specialized in various populations, including military, first responders, and patients with conversion disorder/functional neurological disorder and chronic health conditions. I am a Navy Veteran myself and was diagnosed with FND (functional neurological disorder). It was through therapy that I was able to become healthy. Even a therapist needs a therapist sometimes. You and I are not much different; I just happen to have the training and experience, and would love to be able to work with you on your healing. My goals for you I will support and guide you to create the tools to process through stressful situations, reduce symptoms, and improve your daily functioning. Processing life challenges to resolve and heal from them can be life-changing.
