We provide effective, evidence-based treatments to support teens, adults, and parents struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, and more! Do intense emotions and negative thoughts get in the way of enjoying your relationships, work, school, or everyday life? You've tried various methods for changing, yet find yourself trapped, moving further away from the life you want. You frequently wonder: "Will I ever be happy?" "Is there something wrong with me?" "Will I end up alone?" These thoughts and feelings are overwhelming. You're worried that without action, things could deteriorate further, leading to strained relationships and increased challenges. It doesn't have to be this way. Imagine being calm and in control of your life again, leaving stress and turmoil behind. Living a life that's meaningful and purposeful, free of worry and fear. For 20 years, I've helped teens and adults overcome these challenges, and although I understand how hard it is, I know it's possible. Things can get better. You can feel happy and connected. Using research-based, proven methods, we'll collaboratively focus on strategies that help you deal with stress, manage your emotions, and maintain healthy relationships with your friends and family—so you can get your life back on track as soon as possible. Since age 17, when I took my first Psychology class in high school, I knew I wanted to be a psychologist. I earned my Bachelor's from Georgetown University, followed by a Master's and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Albizu University. The opportunity to help others, especially those in deep emotional pain, was something I could not pass on. Since then, I've dedicated my life to helping people modify their mindset, change behavior, and manage emotions so they can create the life they dream about—a life that's meaningful and purposeful, where they can achieve their goals and build healthy, lasting relationships.

What should a new client know about working with you?

We understand life is hard for you right now…And we also know it can get better. We believe in you and your ability to have a better life. Our mission is to guide, support, and inspire you to be your best self, which is why we’re committed to working as hard as you during your therapy journey. Our goal is to help you create the life you always envisioned—one that you are excited about living (often for the first time in a long time). At Lumina Counseling & Wellness, our mission is simple: We’re here to provide you with compassionate and trustworthy treatments that empower lasting changes so you can create a life you genuinely love. As the Clinical Director of Lumina, with 20 years of experience and DBT-Linehan Board Certified, I work collaboratively with our dedicated team of clinicians to ensure that our approach meets the high standards we’ve set for promoting excellence in mental and emotional wellness. In each session, you’ll learn new skills, acquire tools, and develop behavior patterns that are healthier, more effective, and sustainable—empowering you to live with more peace each and every day. We’re committed to helping you move forward with your life in ways that actually feel good, even when work, parenting, or relationships are challenging—or when life throws you a difficult detour. Our methods will help you make lasting changes. We currently provide individual treatment for teens, adults and college students. We also offer group therapy for clients seeing clinicians in and outside our practice: - DBT Groups for those in our DBT Program - Parent Support & Coaching (Groups & Individual) - LifeSkills Mastery Group for those clients seeing clinicians outside our practice - DBT Groups en Espanol - LifeSkills Mastery Group for College Students

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I'm committed to bringing you the highest standard of quality in evidence-based psychological services. I'm certified by the DBT-Linehan Board as a Certified Clinician, one in only fifteen in the state of Florida, which means I'm specialized and highly trained in providing comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is very effective for people struggling with challenging emotional and behavioral issues resulting from difficulties regulating their emotions. In addition to DBT, I've been trained in other treatment approaches that enhance our DBT services, helping my clients heal and grow such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT-PE for Trauma, & Invitation to Change Approach. If you're not quite prepared to schedule a complimentary consultation call at this moment, that's perfectly okay. We want to ensure you don't feel any pressure, recognizing that the decision to seek therapy can be challenging. One part of you may be inclined to take the step, while another part might be hesitant due to the emotions you may have to confront. Alternatively, you might be questioning whether therapy can actually be beneficial for you. Regardless of your current readiness or apprehension to embark on therapy, we aim to provide you with the necessary information to make an informed choice. Whenever you feel prepared to seek support, we'll be here for you
